Dr. John Charles Kucharczuk, MD

My mother recently had lobectomy by Dr. K. He sounds really nice unless you're talking to his residents or fellows who either want to throw him under a bus or admonish you to not talk to anyone but him lest your given "false" info. Unfortunately, he sent my mother home with holes in her lungs, she suffered a crisis, was sent to a Penn med ER facility and they are blaming said ER for causing the problems that led to ER visit. Meanwhile, she is in perpetual care/limbo at Penn and not improving. Dr. K is nowhere to be found.

All I can say is do not trust this surgeon, bedside manner horrible, he makes mistakes and then covers them up. My experience was horrible! and I urge you to find another surgeon or you will regret it!

I (at a very young age) was diagnosed with a lung carcinoid and chose Dr Kucharczuk as my surgeon. This Doc is a very capable surgeon. He explained the problem, my options in the most professional and compassionate way. My family members (who were obviously very distraught) felt like Dr K was a part of the family in the way he communicated compassionately. He was available whenever we wanted him and accessible by email (yes email!). My surgery (a rather complex one) went without a hitch and I came through alive :)Dr K is the man to go to if you have any serious issue with your lung. His team at the Penn Luncg Center are all all-stars!!Thank you Dr K from me and my family.
