Dr. John Raymond Labban, MD

I went to Dr. Labban for two pregnancies, one in 2013 which ended in miscarriage at 12 weeks, and another pregnancy in 2014 that ended in miscarriage at 16 weeks. So, this colors my review a bit because both of them were difficult experiences for me. Dr. Labban was very kind, gave me options, allowed me time to ask questions, and explained alternatives. I trusted his advice. His staff can tend to be a bit crabby with you and if you are nice to them, they are nice back-- but you may have to hound them a bit. The biggest issue with Dr. Labban's Bloomington office is the wait time for visits. I routinely waited 30 minutes to 90 minutes to see the doctor, even when arriving right on time for my appointment. I realize this is because he really takes time with each patient but I feel the office is not managed well if this is a consistent patient experience. Example: One time I went for an appointment and when I got there they said I wasn't in their book for the day! I knew they… were wrong-- I had written down the time while discussing it with the scheduling person in the office at my previous appointment and apparently they just didn't click all the way through the scheduling software because they didn't know I was going to be there. I had been on bedrest for that pregnancy and made a special effort to get out of bed, get childcare, and get my husband out of work to take me to the appointment, so I just said "I'm staying." Finally 2 hours later I was seen. So, they go to great lengths to accommodate-- just don't hire an hourly wage babysitter to watch your older children if you can't afford to pay for an extra hour or two!

Great doc, great man. Courteous and charming, very professional and hard working.

I am a patient qnd on followup ended up with an infection. After speaking to several other patients-they all had infections to. Isn't there some dept that tracks that. Why do all of his surgery patients have infections? Doesn't that seem odd to anyone else? I spent an extra 2 weeks recovering bc of an infection and it could have been prevented. I find this careless on his part. Doesn't the hospital look into a track record of constant infections following surgery ? Or do they not care either ? I'm not satisfied at all with this.

I've always had good experiences with Dr. Labban, even though he is busy and tends to be running late. He is always respectful of my choices and does not push unnecessary procedures. Appointments are generally quick but I don't feel rushed - he always gives me plenty of chances to ask questions.

The worst experience and treatment ever!!! I felt like I was blown off and disrespected!!!

He is horrible and so is his midwife. DO NOT go to him. It is not worth it. Missed my appointment have been trying to call for 10 minutes and just keep getting a busy signal

Dr labban is the only dr i would let deliever my babys this is my 3rd baby and he has and his nerses has ben the best to me and my sisters my sister had swithched her doctor because she was scared to dissapoint dr labban cause he had delievered all her babys and he is such a great doctor and tgrew the 9 months he is like family, she regrets ever changing doctors all of my my all of my friends and family have had him as their ob and keeps going back...

I went to 6 different ob/gyn's and I was very upset and disappointed with them. I had a GREAT experience with Labban. They treated my pregnancy with care and consideration. I had several health issues with the pregnancy (all pregnancy related, none preexsisting) and they took my issues and concerns seriously. The doctor is very thoughtful and laid back. Delivery was nice and relaxing. My previous delivery with my daughter was heck tick and frightening, and the doctors did not follow my birth plan. Labban followed my birth plan andade the experience very calm and nice! The wait time in his office can be from 20 minutes to an hour sometimes, but then again he has to leave to deliver babies! :). I found that if I schedule early morning appointments then you get in and out faster.

Staff has been rude & can make you feel like a pest. I like Dr Labban but haven't been impressed lately by members of his staff. I will be happy to have my child delivered by him but am looking forward to ending my dealings with his office.
