John M. Lane, DMD
Dr. Lane was born in Fulton, KY and grew up in Mobile, AL. He attended the University of Tennessee, where he majored in Chemical Engineering. He then entered dental school at the University of Alabama, where he graduated in 1987. In 1988, Dr. Lane completed a General Practice Residency at the VA Hospital in New Orleans, LA. Subsequently, he began a periodontal residency at the Univerity of Nebraska, where he received his certificate in Periodontics in 1990.
In July 1990, Dr. Lane moved to Florence and opened his practice limited to periodontics and dental implants. His preference is to treat periodontal issues with laser therapy. He became board certified by the American Board of Periodontics in 1995 and remains the only board certified periodontist in North Alabama. He is a member of the American Academy of Periodontics, the American Board of Periodontics, the founder of the Shoals Study Club, and the former president of the Tri-County Dental Society.
Dr. Lane is …married to the former Joan Leavitt and they have five children. Dr. Lane and his family are active members of Trinity Episcopal Church in Florence. When not spending free time with his family, he enjoys boating, golf and tennis. The Lanes' also work together to design and manufacture products for their company, Shells in Shadows.
