Dr. John Isaac Levitt, MD

Careful: this is a neglectful doctor that won’t take ownership of his faults. I scheduled a video visit with Dr. Levitt to run order some preventative exams (and re-order medicine) that I have done everything 3 months. I thought the visit was short and smooth (definitely lasted under 15 minutes). Dr. seemed friendly enough. I try to pick up my medicine from the pharmacy. They say they need it to be authorized by the doctor. They try to get through to him three times but can’t. I try to get through to him. No replies to my messages. I transfer the meds to a new pharmacy. They can’t contact him either. Suddenly I get a bill from the hospital - almost $300 that I have to pay. My insurance won’t pay it because Dr. Levitt billed it as a “regular office visit, 20-29 minutes” and not a “preventative visit, <15 mins”, as it was. I tried hard to get this changed and, in a last attempt to contact Levitt after weeks, finally his nurse replied to me (not him). Basically she told me that Levitt… didn’t know was going on with my meds (implying that he didn’t care to even find out) and to call another department to help me. I asked if he could at least change the incorrect billing to say that my visit was for “preventative” purposes. Finally Levitt responded directly to me in exactly two sentences: “I don’t know how. I don’t know what’s happening.” What exactly am I paying $300 for — service like that? As a note to other doctors out there, just because you’ve earned your degree does not mean you have to stop learning and being a student of life. Refusal to do an ounce of research regarding your patient and providing zero follow-up contact is neglect.

I recently saw Dr levitt who is my primary dr. I had a couple of issues that I foolishly thought my primary dr should be aware of. He started out our visit by aggressively asking me why I was seeing him for an issue that I had seen a specialist for a month ago. I had also been referred to a specialist for another issue. I have a high deductible insurance plan where I didn’t want to see two different specialists for my two issues. He told me that the referring physician had explained something to me about my thyroid issue and that it was such an insignificant issue it usually didn’t require treatment. I felt like I had done something wrong by bothering him with my medical issues and he could care less about me as a human being. He increased my dosage of thyroid without even testing my blood himself. I came out of the appointment with an increase in my thyroid meds and nothing for the pain radiating down my arm that kept me awake most nights. He is not a good dr and an even… worse human being lacking an iota if compassion for my medical issues. I’m so very disappointed and depressed about the appt that I felt I had to give a review although I have never left a review of any kind for anything before. Absolutely disregards the “first do no harm” that should be a part of his philosophy as a dr. Do NOT see this guy. You will regret it and you’ll have to go somewhere else to get real medical care anyway. It’s very sad.
