Dr. John Clarence Lipham JR., MD

Having too much pain due to perforations on my esophagus I had got a complicated situation cause of several pointless surgeries in other hospitals I was refereed to Dr. John Lipham at USC a couple of months ago. at my first visit, Dr Lipham inspired me with his words. He said that this surgery could be an easy job for him and he had already did many operations like this. these words inspired me and I got a strong spirit. Actually he has got a gentle personality.His surgical job on my esophagus was such a professional that I could get recovery in just 3 days after a big surgery. Thanks a lot Dr. Lipham, you saved my life and you did a great job. Now in just a week, there is no any pain. I have got more than 90% of my health back after 13 years.My kids and my wife are very happy and thankful. By the way, the employees and nurse in Dr Lipham's office are great. very organized and helpful.The USC Hospital is a great place for surgery as well.

Dr Lipham is likely one of the best surgeons in LA. Please consider him for complex cases. If you have something basic, choose any of the other (also great) surgeons at USC. It is impossible to get my required post-op appointments scheduled. He ran two hours late for my last post-op checkup and neither him nor the staff seemed to care. I signed in behind another patient that had an appointment scheduled with Lipham at the exact same time as my appointment. We were both there for 2+ hours after our scheduled time before seeing him.

This doctor not only hid from me damage he caused during surgery, he refused to acknowledge, test or treat for it and left me in agony for many months. He was rude, his nurse was rude and he refuses to fix problems caused by surgery he performed. This is not a good doctor.

I was referred to Dr. Lipham by a surgeon in my health care network, ( he wanted me to get a second opinion ) When he checked me & said he could take care of it & get approval. This would be the 3rd surgery for the same problem. He was able to do the procedure laproscopically. Tho the recovery has been rough due to having it done twice before by incompetent surgeons, I feel I am starting to get back to normal. I have to say Dr. Lipham has an excellent bedside manner & takes the time to answer any questions. He also has a wonderful smile, unlike some surgeons- that are all business. Thank you Dr. Lipham :-)

Dr. Lipham is extremely profession, has a great bedside manner and is very thorough. He literally saved my life. I had been to numerous doctors, all of whom could not figure out what was wrong. Dr. Lipham diagnosed the problem, fixed it and now I'm doing GREAT. Dr. Lipham is truly wonderful.

I was referred by four people independently to Dr Lipham for a Nissen Fundoplication including a couple of anesthesiologists who worked with him and several other similar surgeons. He is kind, compassionate and technically excellent. I did not need a single dose of pain medicine after surgery! I am cured of my heartburn which i had for 10yeaes. It was controlled with medication but was causing bone density problems. Thank you Dr Lipham!!!

Dr. Lipham saved my life - period. He did it in an expert, confident and caring manner. He removed my esophagus and stomach laparoscopically. I have a one and a half inch scar on my stomach and a one and a half inch scar on my neck. I have had two PET scans since surgery, both completely clear. His staff at both USC and Hoag hospital are outstanding. You cannot ask for or find a better surgeon.

Dr. Lipham performed Nissen Fundoplication on me in 2001. He has never been anything short of attentive, professional, thorough and polite. I rate him as one of the best doctors that I have had the fortune to deal with.

Dr. Lipham performed a surgery that my local surgeons said was too much for them to handle. After advising me of all aspects of the surgery, Dr. Lipham successfully performed the surgery. His straight-forward but kind manner instilled the confidence I needed to go forward. He was great!
