Dr. Mahowald is an excellent cardiologist. When my husband had a heart attack at the age of 32, Dr. Mahowald was by far the kindest and most knowledgeable Doctor at the Heart Center. He takes the time to listen and is extremely intelligent. I truly believe my husband is still alive today (18 years later) because of him and only him. I think he is an amazing Doctor and I am shocked someone could post a negative review. Please don't listen to that. I would HIGHLY recommend him.

This is in regards to the care of my wife. Dr. Mahowald's service to our family was nothing short of outstanding. My wife had a very serious and life threatening complication during a "routine" invasive cardiac procedure while under the care of one of the other staff Cardiologists. She then underwent emergency open heart surgery. Post surgery the complications cascaded and Her life was literally in the balance. On the third postoperative day Dr. Mahowald came into the hospital room and said "I am now your doctor." From that moment we felt that someone was finally listening to us, and he started to do the correct care that eventually led to my wife's recovery. I cannot adequately thank him for his skill and his kindness in the care of my wife.

Be prepared to be treated very rudely with total lack of consideration for your feelings. He did nothing but insult the entire time I was in his presence. I would not want to take a dying pet to him! He doesn't only thnk God is not above him but he is sure that he is God himself. This was not an office call so the ratings are hard to place. I was a patient seen by him in the hospital following a 3 hour ambulance ride to be brought to St Cloud Hospital. I gave him 1 star only because the compute would not allow a review without at least one - but he doesn't deserve even one!
