Dr. John Thomas Martin, MD

I switched to Dr. Martin as my primary care physician and couldn't be happier. He is focused and listens well and has addressed all of my concerns. He is interested in more than just symptoms - he asked me about stress, sleep, diet, etc. and this attention to detail made me feel good that he knew what was affecting my health and was interested in treating me as a whole person, not just a bunch of symptoms. He didn't simply write a prescription based on treatment of symptoms, but worked on resolving the cause of the problems. I appreciate his warmth, sincerity, attention to detail, and professionalism - an excellent doctor, in my opinion.

I'm writing this on behalf of my mother who has been a patient of Dr. Martin's. The positives are the she said he was friendly. As far as being a Dr. goes my mother has been feeling ill for a few years, she was referred to Dr. Martin from her primary care physician who retired. She was very hopeful that Dr. Martin might have some ideas about her constant dizziness, as well as many other symptoms including fatigue and having migraines. He was very dismissive regarding her symptoms making her feel like she was being dramatic. After much research on google, my mother found two diseases that had the same symptoms she's been experiencing and asked him to test her for them. She had to insist, as he told her they were rare and she most likely didn't have either Lyme Disease or Mythias Gravis. Well the test results came back and she does have Mythias Gravis. He stated he was surprised when he told her the results. (Glad my mother was able to figure it out through a google search) Since her… diagnosis she has seen specialists, to move forward she needs her records, it's been a mess and taking a very long time. She has been writing him and he responded today that she is difficult. I'm furious for her, she is scared and ill and needs a Dr. to take her seriously not bring up her medical history from 40 years ago and be dismissive. I would think as a Dr. who studied for so many years to become one, you might be interested and invested and have empathy for your patients. In my mother's case this has been lacking. He suggested she find another physician and she will, but to anyone out there, i would also find another physician.
