Dr. John Sidney Matlock, MD

arrogant, pompous, bully.does not care about treating patients just symptoms. Too busy looking at his laptop and doesn't listen to or acknowledge your questions. Since he's moved to his own office they only seem to be interested in gouging you and your Insurance company. Without a doubt the worst Doctor that I have ever delt with. No better than a Jiffy Lube mechanic.

I and my family have been patients of Dr. Matlock for maybe six years. We have always found his work and manner above reproach. No complaints here.

I terminated Dr. matlocks service as my doctor after he became angry with me because I sought a specialist without getting a referral from him. He told me that I "didn't have the decency" to tell him. He was so verbally abusive that I walked out of his office and he chased me down the hall, yelling "pay your bill, pay your bill", he actually "poked "me in the shoulder, threatening to put me in collections. He was so upset with me walking out of his office. I believe him to be an extremely controlled person who may very well be on the verge of a nervous breakdown. What doctor chases a patient after they leave their office? Later that day, I received an email, stating that they owed me, $31.00. His wife who is also his office manager and practical nurse, is a sweet lady, who escorted me all the way down stairs trying to comfort me ( I was in tears) by now. He created such a scene in the hallway outside of his office on Military Drive! Several people from his office followed him… into the hallway to witness this behavior . I told his wife later (who was so apologetic for her husbands behavior) that I would appreciate an apology, she replied, "that ain't gonna happen". Sad to see a doctor who I used to use twenty years ago, deteriorate to this degree, in my opinion. I had read about his abusive behavior to other patients on line and ignored the remarks as just disgruntled patients. I chose to go to him based on my past experiences, BOY WAS THAT A MISTAKE. HE had been rude the prior visit, but he apologized, so I overlooked it. THAT WAS MY FIRST MISTAKE! However I was trying to give him the benefit of the doubt. ( mistake). I pray for him and hope he will seek the help I believe he needs.

Save yourself some grief, choose another doctor!

Don't waste your time with the arrogant doctor.

Dr. Matlock is the best doctor ever! My family and I are all his patients and he has always been correct on every diagnosis, recommendation and treatment plan that he has given us. I had been looking for an excellent doctor and diagnostician for many years with no success and when we were finally recommended by another doctor see Dr. Matlock it was truly an answer to prayer. He never hesitates in his diagnosis and is very competent in all areas of medicine. We have been seeing him for several years now and he has exceeded our expectations. He is always kind, patient and listens to everything we have to say and never hurries you through your appt. but takes his time and explains everything completely and in terms you can understand. He is the only Dr. that I have ever been to that will personally call you if there are any abnormalities found in labs or test results. And the only Dr. that will send you a handwritten note or personal e-mail to let you know when all is normal. I… wouldn't ever go to anyone else. Thank you Dr. Matlock for actually personally caring about your patientsð???

Matlock was my physician for several years. As a new patient I thought he was a good Dr. He was friendly and spent time talking to me and answering questions. As time passed he was always in a hurry. He would come into the room, review my records, ask a question or two then stand with his hand on the doorknob waiting for the moment he could cut me off and walk out. I always felt hurried and left his office without being able to ask the questions I would have liked to have answered. When I made my last appointment I was told by his triage nurse that it was for a follow up. My previous appointment 6 months earlier had been an annual. I later checked my calendar to verify this. At my appointment, he came into the room and was clearly upset about something. I asked him about it and he told me that I was there for my annual and I was not prepped. I told him that I had my annual 6 months earlier but would do another one if he still wanted me to. He walked out of the room. His nurse… came in and handed me a gown. A few minutes later he came back in and told me to leave. He said I had no idea what I was there for that day. He was yelling, actually screaming at me. When I tried to ask what I had actually done, he cut me off. In fact, I was not allowed to speak a single word. During his rant he told me to leave his office and never come back several times. He told me "he detest seeing me and in fact, he detest me". The entire situation was demoralizing and humiliating. But, this was the longest period of time he had ever spent with me. His behavior is NOT acceptable. It is never appropriate for a physician to ever speak to a patient like this regardless of how he feels toward that patient. He turned the professional patient/doctor relationship into a personal relationship by telling me that he detest me. Other than the confusion of whether I was there for a follow up or an annual I have no idea what I said or did to make him treat me the way he did that day. I feel that I always treated him with respect. I had never missed an appointment. However, his office had called me and rescheduled my appointment a few times through the years. I never made any unrealistic requests of him. At my pharmacy's suggestion, I did call his office several different months when refills had not been called in. And, depending on who I spoke to on his staff, they were usually friendly. I also did question him a few times but always went along with what he said. After reading different reviews on different John Matlock sites, I found that I am not the only patient that has been the recipient of his wrath. He will have a completely different comment to this but what I have said is the truth and has not been exaggerated. NO, I would never recommend this person to a friend or even an enemy.

I read the reviews online and was a little hesitant about keeping my appointment. Friends had recommended him and said he was wonderful. When I arrived I filled out my paper work and was called in quickly. I found the staff to be very pleasant. Dr. Matlock addressed all of my concerns and questions. He was very professional, easy to talk to and kind. The entire exam and conversation was exactly what I would have expected from a new patient visit. I am glad I did not cancel due to negative reviews on this site. I have called his office for questions on meds since my visit and his office staff have been prompt and courteous. I am glad I decided to see for myself.

after many years of seeing this Dr he has to be in bed with whatever the drug company of chioce is the one that gives him the most perks He has prescribed so many different drugs over the years i cannot count them his staff is rude he does not like patients he calls patients liars doent return call staff gets mad if you leave more than 1 message per day call you will see. I think he has had enough of being a DR He is noe fired due to his rude staff and dishonesty
