John G. Meara, MD, DMD

Dr. John G. Meara, MD, DMD, MBA, is Plastic Surgeon-in-Chief at Boston Children’s Hospital and Chair of the Medical Staff Executive Committee, as well as a Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School. He is an internationally recognized leader in craniofacial and pediatric plastic surgery, specializing in conditions such as cleft lip and palate and other craniofacial anomalies. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Meara is the founder and emeritus director of the Program in Global Surgery and Social Change at Harvard, where he has advanced efforts to improve access to surgical care worldwide. He has held prominent leadership roles in multiple Lancet global health commissions and is widely known for his contributions to global surgery, health systems research, and surgical innovation.
