Dr. John Howard Merey, MD

He made me feel like I was his friend, I enjoyed his speaking to me in Spanish even thought it was not necessary. His staff was very professional and courteous. The waiting room was full and yet he attended to everyone and reminded everyone by acknowledging there presence and made the wait enjoyable. He is excellent at his craft and checked and double checked his work. His assistant was also very professional and friendly. I recommend everyone in need of his services except those with a chip on their shoulder. They will do better to go to a grumpy Doctor.

Rude man. No help. Small old office. Save your money

Dr. John Merey has been my ophthalmologist for over thirty years. I trust him completely. He has had the highest of training in both medical school and ophthalmology. He is a straight shooter who does not promote unnecessary surgery or even use of glasses if not needed. I found his office very accommodating for appointment dates and times of visit. He has special testing for glaucoma as well as the usually pressure testing

Dr. Merey is very thoughtful and considerate with his patients. He has a good rapport. He is patient; he's great with all ages, the business person and great with seniors.

While the office staff was prompt and courteous, Dr. Merey's techniques are very unsound and unlike any I've seen in 40 years of eye appointments. When removing my contact lenses, he had me place them in empty peanut butter jar lids that had been washed instead of contact lens cases. When testing he refraction, he used hand held lenses rather than any refractor device. And his standard for quality vision for distance was 20/70 as required for a FL drivers license rather than seeking to get the best vision possible. I have never seen this lack of professionalism in an eye exam in 40 years of wearing glasses and contact lenses. Avoid this practice at all cost.

Catering towards Hispanic demographics, staff is not professional. Visit is very affordable, but if you come with a specific problem they make you go throuhg basic eye exam first, what can be frastrating if you recently had your eye exam. Dr. Merey seems ok, helpful. My biggest complain is that the office is dirty!!! There were blood sports on the chair in the reception room, the equipment is very dirty, dusty, scary to touch with your skeen, I felt dirty after leaving. It feels that I visited the office in the 3d world country, although maybe it would be better there.
