Dr. John K. Min

I would not recommend this Dr for senior citizens. doctor. He takes a very conservative approach and told my wife that he will not prescribe any medicines unless she had a fever. She was sick for weeks with a cough, sore throat and fatigued. You’re better off going to urgent care.

My experience with Dr. Min was very discouraging and disappointing. His reviews were glowing. At first he came across very intelligent and friendly. I had high hopes for him as a physician, but after several visits, I find Dr. Min to be rather condescending and dismissive. He talked over me, and interrupted me. He asks questions then cuts in before you finish answering. He minimized & dismissed serious concerns & rushed through the appointment - I was so caught off-guard by this that I did not get to list some of the symptoms I am experiencing before he ended the conversation and moved on to the next patient. His demeanor left me feeling confused, flustered and embarrassed.

Dr. Min is no longer in Burlington, he is in Chapel Hill (UNC Internal Medicine) so I do not know why he is still listed there. Dr. Min completely understands what caring is on a very deep level. He breaks down that power differential by listening intently, showing concern for your values, treating you entirely (physical, psychologically, and spiritually), explaining things thoroughly, and actively engaging you in any decisions. One thing that he does that always blows my mind is at the end of every encounter he asks "Is there anything else I can help you with?" It is not just an automatic statement that he hopes you will not take him up on. He really means it. His practice is very busy and asking this question risks getting him behind his schedule, but he clearly values helping you with whatever you need over keeping to a schedule. He recognizes that there may be things that you need help with that you are afraid to ask about. Sometimes you do wait a little longer to see him but that… is because he is caring at the highest level for all of his patients and extending that service. I have never waited too long. You do not find physicians like him easily. I highly recommend him to all my nurse colleagues and friends. Thank you Dr. Min for giving such high quality care because it really makes a difference!

Knowledgeable, caring, takes the time needed to help you with your needs and explains everything well.

Dr. Min is terrific. He listens very intently and cares a tremendous amount about whatever is bothering you. I have recommended him to multiple family members, all of whom have found him to be wonderful.

My overall experience was a very comfortable feel...very easy to talk to and most important a very good listner to what I had to say. I like him a lot.
