Dr. John Douglas Nelson, MD

I just started seeing Dr. Nelson. I suffer PTSD and of course the depression and anxiety that goes with it. So, I have high trust issues seeing anyone new. However, within 3 minutes with Dr. Nelson, I knew I FINALLY got the right Doc. I felt as though I’ve known him for years. He tells it like it is and is willing to talk of his personal experiences. He actually listens and doesn’t treat you like a number. I spent 20+ years in the Navy with SEALS. I abused my body beyond what a normal person would do. He gets it. No judging. I’ve had so many issues since my retirement, i.e. kidney failure, cancer, pancreatitis, failed back surgery which left me in more pain than prior to surgery. 8 rods and screws in my low back. His demeanor and positive attitude is infectious. I come out more positive after my appointment than before I walked in. I am very impressed and know that in my case, the Doc/patient relationship will just flourish and I’ll stay with him until one of us leaves earth or he… retires. I don’t think he’ll be retiring anytime soon as he absolutely loves his work.

Awesome MD, kind and caring and goes above and beyond to help and care. Easy appt., staff is friendly. Spends a lot of time chatting and getting to know the patient and not just the symptoms. He always goes the extra mile..

I am sitting waiting to see the doc. Now going on nearly 2 hours, this is not in common . Has not ever really helped. He is nice and likes to talk and gets backed up because of it. Currently also searching for a new doc as I wait for him

Funny, charismatic, and professional. Moved 1hr away, still make drive because he's the best.

Appointment scheduling is a challenge. It can take 2 weeks to get in to see the Dr. Quicker to go to Urgent Care or ER. Dr and staff are very caring. Medical Assistant is usually unfriendly, interrupts patient and Dr. visit - tends to walk in as she is knocking on door.

If you have a serious problem requiring actual effort on his part, don't bother with this doctor. You'll spend lots of money and time not getting any concrete results. He's definitely into not doing any harm (or any good, either!)
