Dr. John D. Nicolas, MD

Came to Dr. Nicolas as a new patient and my experience was very frustrating and disappointing. With previous doctors I always receive a general summary of my blood lab and how things look following my annual exam. Did not receive any feedback at all making me think it wasn't even looked at. Submitted a follow up question through the Northwestern Medicine MyChart portal about my results and never received a response back. The most frustrating part was I needed to refill a simple prescription I've been regularly taking for years and had to call his office literally 5 times before it was finally sent over to my pharmacy. It took an entire month from when I came in for my visit to when I finally was able to fill my prescription. A patient should not have to follow up with his or her doctor numerous times to get them to fill a simple prescription. The non-responsiveness and lack of attention put a very bad taste in my mouth and I will be looking for a new general practitioner moving… forward.

Excellent Physician

You will never be able to see him on time, and forget about the ability to see him when you are sick. His nurses will direct you to go to an immediate care or an ER. Avoid.

Concerned about the well being of his patient and prescribe the right medication for you. He is awesome but the receptionist need to be a little more nice, not that friendly

Sometimes you cannot get an appt. until 1 1/2 to 2 weeks later. The waiting time is kind of long. On the positive side: Dr. Nicolas is very pleasant and patient; he does not rush and really listens!

I've been with Dr. Nicolas for a few years now. He is a great guy and easy to talk to. Great bedside manner and explains things in a no non sense way.

Although this doctor may be very knowledgeable , his follow up is virtually non- exsistant. If you do not manage to get all your questions in during your visit, you can forget about calling because receiving a call back is like playing the lottery. It's highly probable you will not. In addition, his assistant is crude and needs to brush up on her communicating skills and professionalism. I would not recommend this doctor.

Billing tricks and insurance tricks are common with this doctor.

Dr. Nicolas is the most "concerned to his patient" doctor. He is very knowledgeable and he examines his patient thoroughly and answers patient's questions understandably.I recommended him to my friends.

I had a routine physical and they took blood and urine samples. I was told to follow up mid week the following week for the results, which i did. I have now called 3 days in a row and left messages with no response. I've been told that my messages have been received and someone will call me.I have never had the experience of no response from a doctor or a doctor's office. I cancelled my follow up appointment and would not recommend this doctor to anyone. I have zero respect for any professional that does not return calls.The office staff is alternately pleasant and rude depending on when you get through and who you speak with. Wait times on the phone can be very long.
