Dr. John Herbert Niles, MD

I am 62 years old. I have been going to Dr. Niles for over 20 years. Oh I pray he never retire. He and his team are the best ever.

Dr. Niles is the most rudest, ill-mannered and unprofessional doctor I have ever encountered in my life!! He even gave me meds to stop hot flashes which made them worse. When I told him that, he just kept increasing the dose. My new OBGyn told me to stop taking them and I no longer have the flashes. I guess having a "MD" behind your name does not necessarily make you compassionate. No more old, male OBGyn docs for me...he was my first and last.

Staff was friendly, it was easy to make an appointment and I did not have to wait long. However, the Dr lacks bedside manner. He is rude and has a smug attitude when you ask a question that requires some degree of detail beyond yes/no. He appears to spend the time (no quality), but his attitude is as if you are bothering him by being there. I made it known what I was there for when I scheduled the appointment, when I had my vital signs taken and once again when I spoke with the doctor. However, the room was not prepped witht he necessary equipment. Hid assistant had to go out of the room two separate times. The door was DIRECTLY at the bottom of the bed, I was unclothed in the stirrups, no attempt was made by the doctor nor the assistant going in and out of the door to maintain pt dignity. The door was opened wide as if large equipment was being brought in. He is very rough with his instruments, he does not tell you what he is doing before he does it, he makes no attempt to make the… pt feel comfortable. He did not knock before entering the room and walked out before making any mention of follow up (but I wont be back anyway). I dont doubt the he was probably a good and knowledgeable Dr in his day, but with the attitude I saw in combination with him walking into the exam room with a cane...I would say its time to retire. Hindsight, I would not have made the appointment.

Dr. Niles is very knowledgeable and through the years he was helpful to me. However, I stopped seeing him three years ago, because I noticed the decline in his professional demeanor. Frankly, I think it's time he retires. He's become very rude and acts as if he doesn't want to be a GYN doctor but an internal medicine doctor. When you ask him questions, his response is very blunt and unfriendly. He acts as if you're an idiot for asking. I brushed it off a few times as him having a bad morning. However, one day he hung up the phone on me when I was asking him a question. He said, "Didn't I already tell you the answer to that while you were in my office. The answer is no." Click' and hung up. I couldn't believe it. Our 20 year patient-doctor relationship went down the drain. Take my advice and see someone else!

I have visted Dr John Niles J.R. many years ago glade to know he is still caring for women

It must be nice to have had a good experience with this doctor, but I simply did not. Initially I thought he was OK, a bit distant, but the more appointments I attended the worse he became. He called me a liar about not taking my medications (even though I was - and STILL am), looked at me like I was a fool for wanting some wellness testing, scheduled me for a completely and totally unnecessary painful biopsy, and after this was VERY rough during my last exam. His nurse who does the weight and blood pressure section is also very rude. I haven't felt the same since, if you know what I mean, and I do not feel safe going back to this doctor and this experience has caused me to shy away from seeking a new one. Ladies, please be careful, especially if you're seeing him for more than a pap smear. It seems the problems arise when you have more issues to be addressed.

Having been a patient of Dr. Niles for over thirty years certainly attests to what I think about him. He is patient. personable, and competent. I am usually seen right away and never wait for over five minutes. What I really love is that it does not take weeks to get an appointment.
