Rude manner

Dr NORA has performed 2 surgeries on me in the last 4 years. The 1st operation was in conjunction with Dr Ashvin Patel. Together they replaced 3 discs in my lumber spine. The 2nd was 3 months ago. He removed my gall bladder and while operating discovered a mass in my pancreas. He then referred me to KEN Meredith, Oncology surgeon, feeling much better ??

Waited three weeks for an appt, printed out my documents to be prepared for the appt, then drove 45 minutes (missing an important meeting I would have appreciated being able to attend) only to be told they do not accept my insurance (despite being asked who my insurance was prior to making the appointment) and thus turned away from the appointment. I am extremely frustrated and irritated by this oversight.

I came into the ER with what was diagnosed as a strangulated hernia. I was in surgery with Dr. Nora within hours after that. I went into the surgery with great pain and discomfort. I came out and had no pain at all and little discomfort. Dr. Nora had not only fixed the hernia but had safely removed a necrotic nodule that had developed because of a twist in the intestine. Despite the severity of this rupture, I truly felt like a new man after the surgery. I was home two days later. He is a superb surgeon, with hands of gold, as far as I am concerned.

I called 911 at 7:00AM after having severe chest pains Friday all night. Ten minutes later I was on my way to Sarasota Memorial via a great ETM ambulance. I was sure I was having a heart attack. I was wrong. I had many tests including a catscan. It turned out to be my gall bladder that was in bad shape and had to be removed. Dr. Nora performed laparoscopic surgery Saturday morning at 10:AM and removed my gall bladder. I was discharged from SMH at 11:AM Sunday. No recovery time, no special diets. I am 93 and feel fine. Dr. Nora was wonderful as was all the staff at Sarasota Memorial Hospital.

I feel very confident in Dr. Nora. He was compassionate & thorough explaining my diagnosis. I haven't had surgery as yet but based on my experience thus far I believe I will be satisfied.

This is about scheduling. We were promised a next day call to schedule surgery. Phone call to office gets a VM saying don't call again. Then we find (by calling again) that scheduling office is closed Wed pm! If Dr sets an expectation and makes a commitment, it should be kept! Therefore, poor review for patient handling process.

There is not enough space for me to list how wonderful this MD is. Has an A++ rating in everything possible. Heartily recommend him for any general Surgery, Vascular or otherwise. Such a pleasure to deal with MD ! Really should be a 10 out of 10 rating at least !

If anyone needs surgery in Sarasota-Bradenton area I would recommend Dr. John Nora without reservation. HE IS A VERY COMPASSIONATE doctor and man and all of his staff thinks so too. That says it all....
