Dr. J. Douglas Patterson, MD

Dr. Patterson is a very professional orthopedic specialist and surgeon. He is also a very experienced on the hand orthopedic surgery with me, who recently performed my hand, wrist and elbow surgery. Dr. Patterson is also very friendly and explains very clearly my medical situation and his diagnosis to solve the problem.

I’m sorry am starting over I think I submitted an incomplete review. I just wanted to say because you should really know that Dr. Patterson is the best at what he specializes in. Not only did I take my granddaughter in to see him for her ailment but my husband worked for him for years and would have not referred his own granddaughter to see him had he not witnessed first hand the attention he gave to each and every patient he saw and the gratitude these patients extended to him when returning to be seen by him. He explained how Dr. Patterson was prompt, courteous, and darn good at what he specialized in. When he saw my granddaughter he reached out and shook her hand and treated her with the upmost respect and made her feel comfortable. He talked to her, asked her questions, and let her explain what she was feeling without making her feel as if she didn’t matter or know what she was talking about. I would not hesitate in referring Dr. Patterson to any of my family members or friends.… The doctors at DE Orthopedic Specialist are so highly educated in their fields and we should be so lucky to have them here in Delaware. Thank you Dr. Patterson and your staff for your kindness and professionalism. Look forward to seeing you again for my granddaughter’s next appointment. Thanks again!!!!

I had an appointment with Dr. Patterson yesterday, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the experience. He was exceptionally kind, attentive, and made me feel completely safe and comfortable. He took the time to listen to all of my concerns and answered every question thoroughly. Dr. Patterson was incredibly gentle during the exam and clearly explained each step of the process as he went along. He also walked me through the upcoming surgery in detail, including what to expect during recovery and the different anesthesia options available (local or general). His calm and compassionate approach put me at ease, and I left feeling confident and well cared for. I’m very happy with the service I received and would highly recommend Dr. Patterson to anyone in need of a skilled and empathetic hand specialist.

Dr. Patterson was great! Him and his whole office staff made me feel welcomed and cared for. I went in to the office to make sure my finger laceration was healing well after suture removal. He looked it over, made sure I could move my hand and fingers properly, and gave me instructions on touch therapy and how to strengthen my hand muscles. He was warm, with great bedside manners, he even made me laugh.

Went in for a wrist injury. Did not wait long at all. Everyone was very friendly. The doctor I thought was great and had me laughing and relaxed the whole time. He took time to go over what could be happening to my wrist and offered nerve study and PT to start with.

Dr. Patterson is an excellent doctor, he spent the time with me going over all my options before deciding together the best course of action. I highly recommend him

Made an appointment for my 99 year old aunt who has trigger finger issues. He was very understanding and pleasant all through the visit. She yelled, groaned, and sassed him the entire visit. He explained to her his diagnose and the options for treatment. After giving her an injection, he massaged her hand and went through the exercises with her to do at home. If this did not work for her, he told us to make a second appointment. I was so impressed, I told my son who has a trigger finger to make an appointment to see him.
