Dr. John Joseph Payton, DO

After waiting over an hour for my appointment Dr. Payton came in apologizing and blaming it on a previous patient and her children for taking up so much time. Complaining about other patients was completely unprofessional. I told him it was fine, I understood, He then proceeded to read the list of symptoms I had told the nurse in a rushed fashion. I forgot one and when I went to tell him he was impatient and rude. He then spent about 3 minutes actually looking at what was irritated, checking my lungs and heart and nose and throat. He then said I was fine and should just take Tylenol and was probably just getting over an infection. I asked if it could be related to my allergies and he said no and did not seem to want to discuss anything with me. I have been seeing another doctor at this practice for about a year now and have never been treated like this. I was advised by a doctor to make an appointment because of the possibility of strep and that I had been in pain for 5+ days. I was… not some uninformed child making an appointment for just having a common sore throat. Dr. Payton was rude, unprofessional, condescending and impatient. I understand that I was the last appointment of his for the day and that there was a pharm rep downstairs with Rockne's for dinner, but the way I was treated was quite rude. In the future I will never schedule another appointment with him if my regular doctor is busy. I have never been treated with such disrespect at a doctors appointment. The staff at the office were very nice and kind to me as usual, the wait time is not their fault. I would never recommend this doctor to anyone. I have enjoyed my time at this practice and have recommended it multiple times to friends looking for a local family doctor in the Akron/Fairlawn area.

because the nurse was so rude. I had a real problem getting my mother's medicines and the nurse was absolutely no help at all. I am a nurse and I know that I have never treated a family/patient the way she treated me. She refused to do anything to help and my mother had to go without her meds for days. Not a good outcome. The doctors in this practice should know that she is not doing her job well at all.
