Dr. John Owen Percy, MD

As a first time parent, I generally have a lot of questions/concerns at each check up. Dr. Percy WILL rush you through each appointment. If you are more than 5 minutes late, he will scold you for being late. His medical advice is extremely dated (almost as if he hasn't read any recent research or peer reviewed journals) He has HORRIBLE bedside manner. None of my appointments are ever more than 5 minutes long. He's an average (at most) doctor as long as you are exactly on time and don't have too many questions or real concerns and if your child is not sick. Essentially he's fine at just doing the monthly check ups. Do yourself a favor and choose a pediatrician that will spend time with you and not rush you out the door OR won't scold you for being a few minutes late. On a positive note, he has a good staff (nurses and receptionists)

Dr Percy comes in with his laptop and just fills in data. At our 15month visit we had some developmental concerns about our son and he said we should see a neurological pediatrician. We got an appt for 4 months later. When I called him a few weeks later and asked his opinion about early intervention, he said we should start it right away. I would expect my doctor with something as serious as developmental delay to tell me about all options. If I hadn't heard about early intervention, my son would be waiting 4 months to see the neurologist. Luckily, he has started therapies. The Physical therapist said he has low muscle tone in his legs. Dr Percy has examined his legs at each visit and didn't say anything. Dr Percy just checks off the height, weight, etc...stats and that's it. If your child is healthy, he's fine. But if you have a child who may have an issue, don't go to this Doctor. He won't diagnose it or give you all of the options.

He told me up front he was back to back and didn't have time for many questions. For my daughters 9 mo check up he didn't ask any questions about her development. He didn't do thorough exam (didn't check hips, legs, abdomen, eyes, etc). He didn't listen very long when I tried to describe a struggle we were having. Overall left feeling shuffled out the door

May not be the most caring individual but my kids love seeing him.
