Dr. John Wesley Rayburn, MD

I recently had an appointment for Iowa Ortho in Des Moines. I have to say that my experience was overall very negative. My appointment was scheduled for 1:30pm so i arrived at 1:20pm to prefill all the paperwork. I handed the paperwork back to the office assistant at 1:25pm. I was finally called back to the room at 2:00pm where I as asked a few questions by the nurse about my pain. She then stated that we would be doing an x-ray. I was completely unaware I was going to be doing x-rays. No conversation with the doctor as to why the x-rays were needed and the nurse just said it's been longer than a year. So the nurse brings me a pair of shorts and tells me to put them on and she will be back to take me for x-rays. I quickly put the shorts on and then wait 15 minutes for another nurse to open my door and asked if I have had my x-ray. Obviously, they should know if I had been taken to get x-rays. Finally, I get my x-ray and wait another 5 minutes for the doctor to come in. The doctor was… obviously in a rush. Our whole conversation lasted maybe 7 minutes in which 5 minutes was him comparing me to a rusty car. Followed by 2 minutes of him offering abysmal treatment options with little evidence to support his reasoning. I waited 24 hours to write a review to make sure that I had a clear head to write an honest review. Extremely dissapointed.

Dr. Rayburn is very professional, compassionate & experienced in pain control. Great rapport!

I have only great things to say about Dr Rayburn and his entire staff! I recently had another bilateral nerve ablation done for my lower lumbar region and I'm doing so much better, the pain is not severe now and my goal is to walk without bending over or using assistance, I highly recommend lowa Ortho for anyone needing help with pain or any joint problems!

I've been with Iowa Ortho for 13 years. Dr Rayburn for 10 of that. He takes time and listens. He's very professional and personable.

Dr. Rayburn explained what to expect during my procedure, took time to see if I had any questions or concerns & not only is he professional, but has a great bedside manner & sense of humor.

Dr Rayburn and all the staff at Iowa Ortho are so helpful and kind.

If you can even get into see him. You are usually pushed off to his assistant and staff not always courteous. If you have chronic pain you are instructed to take ibuprofen or Tylenol.

he is a good doctor that does his job well. I would recommend him to anyone who needs him.
