Dr. John F Riedler, MD

This horrible man treated our son several years ago. After two visits, he diagnosed him with pervasive developmental disorder, a meaningless catchall diagnosis that can ruin a person’s life. He also insisted that admitting him to a hospital for mentally ill kids would help him. The “hospital” has since been shut down. Our son was only 8 years old. We had no idea what we were dealing with, and were stupid enough to trust this man. Once we got out of his control and saw a legitimate doctor, our son did so much better. The fact is, he had autism. And a seizure disorder - which we knew about of course. He died at the age of 22 of a seizure in his sleep. At the time of his death, he had a job, numerous friends, and lived a happy life. Dr. Riedler hates people and anybody who goes into his office will feel it.

I concur 150% with the numerous honest yet depressing evaluations others have written of Dr. Reidler. Prior to seeing him ONE TIME ONLY!!!, I had seen his Physician Assistants, Tanya Kallmeyer and Amanda Kubin. Both were extremely professional, “mental medically” helpful, but most importantly, they were ALWAYS honest yet COMPASSIONATE. I have one of the BEST Clinical Psychologist in the business and together we will find the “right mental med” Doctor for me. It wilL NOT be Dr. Reidler! He was rude, very narcissistic, cocky, and sets a tone of TOTAL stress. I encourage you to read his reviews carefully. We can all make MUCH better choices.

I’m home from seeing the new pdoc Dr. Riedel. I didn’t think anyone could get worse than Cunningham, but this guy has to be the ugliest, nastiest, most hateful person I’ve met in a very long time. I had a panic attack shortly after walking in. My typical kind. He immediately raised his voice and told me to stop what I was doing, to breathe like I know how, to open my eyes, to answer him. I couldn’t talk and was crying. He said, “What, do you think I haven’t seen this before? You’re doing it to yourself.” I ran out of his office to the front desk. He followed me and brought me back to his office. I almost didn’t go. I shouldn’t have. It finally subsided, and I thought we could have a decent conversation maybe. I tried to explain about my panic attacks, and he said they were completely my fault and under my control, that I could stop them if I wanted to. He asked a couple of questions about my past doctors which I answered. I stayed very in control. Did not raise my… voice or really even object to anything. He asked me why I was there, and I told him I was looking for an advocate who could help me with my mental health issues as a partner, someone who would both listen and hear and try to understand how I was feeling. We talked briefly about suicide. Told him I think about it but will not make an attempt. He said I could just leave and go to the ER. But still I stayed. I said I just need someone who will help me with medications to treat my symptoms and my current doctor had a very different philosophy. He asked what that philosophy was, I started to tell him, and he asked me if I’m looking for a new doctor or what. I said yes, that I intensely disliked my current doctor and we had very differing points of view. He asked who that was and I told him. Guess what. They are very good friends. He said, “So what do you think your issues are?” I told him, and he said, “You forgot one. Borderline personality disorder.” I looked at him curiously and said, “In all of my years of treatment, nobody has ever indicated that they thought I had BPD so I’m curious as to why you think I do when I’ve only been here 15 minutes.” He said, “Just look at you and the things you’re doing and saying. You don’t take care of yourself. You’re dirty and stink, your clothes are dirty, your hair and teeth. And everything you have said and done since you’ve been in this office.” I told him that I agreed that I smelled like smoke but not with the rest of his comments. He said that justified what he said. I was so upset and mad but did not let it show. I told him that I have a great therapist, and he said that she must be really bad if I am acting this way. That she isn’t any help at all. I just ignored that and changed the subject. I tried again to explain how I was feeling, but he just kept cutting me off and saying hateful things that I can’t even remember now. I just got up and left his office feeling traumatized.

Horrible Dr. and Human, especially to be treating the emotional fragile. Did not shake my extended hand hello, cell, laptop and looking out window as I was talking, asking if going to rain more important. ZERO Compassion, Arrogant, dismissive, narcissistic. I was sent to him and history in system, knew nothing about me. If I can save just one person from this added emotional trauma, if I can urge you,,, please if one person reads this for themselves or someone they are helping, DO NOT GO TO HIM made me feel worse.

I read all of his reviews & concur 110%. But I made a visit to decide for myself & predominantly because I needed my meds. I found him to be everything other reviewers said & More. This man has serious problems. His conversation was warbled and aimed at being dominant & controlling. As a result of not being able to get the meds I needed, I was left with weaning off of Prozac. The “so-called” Dr. did me a favor. I am free of Prozac and a very happy person! I deplore you, even if you are in desperate need of medication, find someone else, or at least your personal care physician. But write this Dr. off. He is INSANE!

I was a little shocked by my diagnosis - bipolar -but I knew he was right. I appreciated that he didn't sugar coat it and he gave me the facts! I knew there was something not right with me and I really wanted to know what it was and how it could be treated. I am thankful for the diagnosis he provided and I'm pretty happy with the plan on how to keep me and my moods on track. Thank you Dr. Riedler!

Dr Riedler's idea of conversation with the patient was like a prosecutor to a hostile witness. Assuming I was stupid, at best, or a lying criminal. He changed topics mid- sentence, confused the names of medicines, and made sarcastic side comments. I started to wonder which one of us needed help.

Wow...just don't do it. He's not the person to see. Never again. Insults your intelligence.

Do not take your teenager. He told me that he would not work with me if he did not have total control over my child's medication. I told him that I would not give up my instincts. He basically kicked me and my teen out of his office. I got my copay refunded and left with my dignity. This man treated me with such disrespect. I've never written a review of any kind before this. I feel it is my responsibility to warn others. Lesson learned- always read reviews before subjecting your family to so called professionals. This man is HARSH! I will never return!!!

I should have listened to the multiple dissatisfied patients that have left comments prior to today. This man is CRAZY! I have been seeing Tanya (his PA) for approximately 6 months and I needed to see him in order to go over some other issues I was experiencing. Well, needless to say that was a huge mistake! He is narcissistic, passive aggressive and just flat out rude! I caught him in a few lies and that was all she wrote. He was quick to turn the tables on me and say I was the one who was misinformed. Please, take my advice and don't even waste your co-pay. Now I am stuck with no provider. Desperately searching for someone who can help me.
