Dr. John Rogers, MD

A cordial man with a relaxing bedside manner. I feel lucky he was my surgeon. He inserted two pacemakers into me--perfect! I hope I can do a third.

My cardiologist referred me to Dr. Rogers after I expressed concern about traditional pacemaker placement given my slender build, age (45) and active lifestyle. My case was urgent and Dr. Rogers was able to quickly fit me in and do an axillary placement under my pectoral muscle. He put me at ease during the pre op process and all the hospital staff told me he was the best pacemaker surgeon. They were right and I couldn’t be happier with the result. You can’t even tell I have a pacemaker and I can still wear bikinis and strapless dresses. I’m so grateful that Dr. Rogers’s extraordinary skill level made getting a pacemaker at a relatively young age a positive experience that isn’t negatively impacting my lifestyle.

I have seen Dr. Rogers for years after developing a fib. He and I immediately connected and he knew just how to treat my condition. I have now been a fib free for now almost 5 years thanks to Dr. Rogers and his also caring nurse Beth. I can't say enough good things about this doctor and the way he practices medicine. The cost of Dr. Rogers performing heart surgery on me unnecessarily was over $100,000, I had to take a year off from work, and I was permanently scarred for no reason. An old degree from an unranked medical school shouldn’t give him the right to violate a patient’s trust. “Surgery…is a good thing, a useful thing, an excellent thing in its way; but too much of it is a great evil.”

Dr. Rogers insisted that I needed a $100,000 surgery or would risk sudden death - but it turns out that I didn't need to have anything done at all because there was NOTHING wrong with my heart. I have been permanently scarred for no reason. If I could go back in time, I never would have let him touch me.

Seeing Dr. Rogers was the worst mistake I’ve ever made. The surgery went horribly wrong, leaving me mutilated and with nerve damage before I’ve even turned 30. He wrote snarky and nasty comments about me in my chart after my procedure was botched. I wouldn’t recommend him to my worst enemy.

He put an UNNECESSARY PACEMAKER into me and I had to risk OPEN HEART SURGERY to have it removed. Three scars, four surgeries in four months, and a year off work because he did unnecessary surgery. Bottom line: IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR HEALTH OR YOUR FAMILY’S HEALTH, NEVER LET HIM TOUCH YOU. Do not consult with other docs in his health system - go elsewhere for a CORRECT diagnosis and APPROPRIATE treatment.

He has been treating my husband for about 4 years and I truly believe without his experience he would not be alive today. For this I am grateful to him. Now I will be having treatment and looking forward to finding the problem that caused my stroke.

I have been seeing Dr. Rogers for approximately 15 years. When I first started seeing him I would have given him 5 stars -- however over the course of time things have slipped -- it is next to impossible to get an appointment -- He is more abrupt, he lets things slip and relies too heavily on old test results, and does not fully analyze current ones correctly and lets major conditions slip by and this puts patients at great risk. He totally missed a completely blocked vein that runs down the front of my heart and other signs and now my ejection fraction has fallen to 29 and I am in serious trouble -- had the fact that this was happening been caught sooner it could possibly have been stopped or reversed. It is next to impossible to get past his PA to get an appointment with him or to receive tests that are needed and she is not truthful, nor does she look your chart up or read it correctly and she argues with you about things she obviously knows nothing about. It is a shame as I… always like doctor Rogers, but if you want a doctor who will actually see you, take a full interest in you then you probably want to see someone else.

This Cardiologist was more concerned about whether I was going to sue him than in providing proper medical care. He nearly caused my demise by prescribing CLONIDINE AS NEEDED, without warning me that this drug has dangerous side effects in that it can cause MORBID HYPERTENSION when usage is stopped. He never warned me about this which caused me to have to go to the emergency room THREE TIMES FOR SYSTOLIC BP READINGS OF OVER 250!!! His write up of my medical care at Scripps was an exercise in "COVERING HIMSELF LEGALLY FROM SUITS" in which he actually made false statements about what was said by him and by myself in meetings. If you require a Cardiologist, RUN from this physician.
