Ok, I am an RN on vacation, and was experiencing some symptoms of Kidney stones. I know my body and have nursed and tested hundreds of people for this. So I called this urgent care, to see if they would let me have or sell for a small price some urine test strips. They run about ten cents retail. However nobody on the island sold this particular test strip retail. So I called This Urgent Care as a last ditch effort so I could check my urine for blood to see if I was going to need an ER visit in the next couple of days. They said they would sell me a strip for $50-$75. This is totally inappropriate for patient care. I understand they would like me to be a patient at their business, but for Gods sake, I am a registered nurse for a living, a little courtesy? All I needed was a ten cent Urine test strip that would’ve taken 20 seconds of their time. I would have gladly paid $5.00- $10.00 for their troubles.It required no doctors orders; No medical evaluation or any other reason why they… could not have sold it to me. As far as I am concerned this is price gouging and preying on people that are on vacation because they know there’s nowhere else to go. A disgrace to the medical profession and the nursing profession.
