Dr. John Anthony Sbarbaro, MD

I was referred to dr detwiler by another doctor for my workman's comp case. He seemed to immediately consider me as someone who was trying to milk the system for all I could get. He pretty much dismissed all my complaints and symptoms. He recommended numerous tests that were considered overkill by the other doctors since I had already had several similar tests that clearly showed the extent of my injuries and damage. He apparently was desperate to try to find anything he could find to dismiss my claims as well as the findings of the other doctors. He was rude and very seemed egotistical to the point of acting like all the other doctors didnt know anything as well as he did. If I werent forced to go to him, I never would have returned after the first visit. He is deceased now so it doesnt make any sense for me to warn anyone about him I suppose, but he deserves all the bad ratings he is getting here.

He is very nice! My mom has an aneurysm and he came up to her room AFTER he had operated just to speak with her about it. He does NOT only care about money because he referred her to a doctor to do a less invasive procedure because he thought it'd be better than her having a crainiotomy. He's not warm and bubbly, that's just not his personality. But he's VERY good at what he does and he DOES care about his patients. Even after he recommended her to another doctor for a different procedure, he has still checked in on my mom and even told us to intercept the xrays in radiology and ship them to the other doctor so he gets them quicker instead of the hospital sending them and it taking forever. He even explained everything to her and my family as many times as we asked. When my mom was being stubborn about procedures, he told her very bluntly what needed to be done and what the risks were. More doctors should be like that instead of beating around bush. I think people need to quit being so… sensitive. He's a surgeon and he's good at what he does; I think that's most important.

This man does not even deserve a "poor." I have never seen such a cruel person. I am heartbroken at the thought that someone in the health field who does this for living would treat his patients with no love and no care. Why did he even choose this field in the first place then? His attitude was completely unprofessional and he did not even care to listen to my problems. To top of his very inconsiderate behavior, he is completely clueless too. He responded with "I don't know" to every one of my questions. Don't waste your time/money by going to this person who cannot and will not do anything for you.

Dr Dewiler had a lousy manner with me. He actually walked in to the room and said "what do you need?" my Neurologist had referred me to him, after my MRI showed a change. Apparently, since I am NOT a candidate for surgery, he has no interest in me. Dr. Detwiler is a surgeon and that = a cutter. If he can't cut you, he has no interest in you. He actually said to me, that he could operate on me, but that I would end up on a ventilator or in a wheelchair. I guess I should appreciate his honestly .. but my goodness, go take a class on COMPASSION.

I have been to Dr. Detwiler twice now, and I will NEVER go back. He spend NO time with me, and I have several spine issues, he gave me no info, no options, no future plans on my disease. I looked into his background further, and he has been SUED for refusing to treat a patient with HIV in 2000. SHAME on him .. he made me feel stupid, and silly for coming to see him. I was referred to him by my neurologist for a spine disease, and he didn't even bring it up. spent THREE minutes with me. I am OFF to find a NEW NEUROSURGEON. ASAP.
