Very good foctor, and team, I felt very welcome!

He has been my rheumatologist for more than 40 years and has seen me through several different therapies and corrective surgeries when necessary. Always a comfort to know he's on my team.

I have been a patient of Dr. Sergent for about 15 years. He diagnosed me with lupus when I was in high school and could barely walk for all the pain I was in. Now at the age of 30, I am in remission and expecting my first child. All throughout my illness, he has treated me with the utmost kindness and respect and has never acted as if my pain was just something minor. He promptly saw me any time I requested an appt, always taking time to listen to my symptoms/concerns and adjusting medication accordingly. He is an incredibly compassionate and knowledgeable physician that I trust unequivocally.

One example of how awful he is: he walks in to a patient who can barely walk, and crows about the beautiful spring weather and how he's ridden his bike to work that day, and asks if they've been able to "get out and enjoy the spring?" TONE DEAF. I honestly think there's something wrong with him.

I was treated for 9 months for a diagnosis of RA. I was put on many medications that made me so sick & I thought I was going to die. My RA Factor at my PCP's office was positive, twice but when checked at Dr. Sergent's office, it was always negative even though all the other targets were positive. My last visit, after 9 months, he told me he didn't think I had RA & immediately stopped ALL of my medications, one of which was supposed to be weaned. He pushed me off on a Nurse Practitioner who specialized in Fibromyalgia. I never saw her. In fact, I never want to go back to Vanderbilt to see anyone associated or affiliated with him. He's rude & has a terrible bed side manner. Something is wrong with me and eventually I will get to the bottom of my problem with my PCP who is an internal medicine doctor.

He has kept me going for many years and has always been right with every diagnosis.

Is Dr Sergent the right Dr for you? If you want to be misdiagnosed twice, treated insensitively, told you are crazy, refused treatment, and after 4 years of treatment being told he no longer thinks there is anything wrong with you and its all in your head and then kicked out the door, then yes. He is the Dr for you.
