After n8 weeks I was still in pain and my jaw was not healing. Last week I had a good size bone chip come out of my surgery area. It was a great relief and my jaw felt better immediately. He left a bone chip in my jaw. I have yet to hear back from his office. Do not complain or you will be shut out. I wish I could give a zero!

Over 2 years and $15,000 later I have nothing! I was supposed to get two implants. I did go through around 8 office visits and lots of pain. I asked for a partial refund and he never responded nor to schedule my last appointment from him taking out the last implant he put in. I will let my heading speak for itself.

DFW Oral Surgeons are "Phenomenal" - 6 Stars! Dr. Schillingburg listened to our concerns, he was professional to address everything, and put us at ease about removing 4 wisdom teeth and 4 permanent teeth. He's not in a rush and quite pleasant to converse with. The office staff is thorough and positive. Every time I called, they were helpful and I never felt as though I put them out. The best part...with the number of days we had left in the summer (including healing time), I communicated my desire to try to get this surgery done and they were able to accommodate my daughter within days. That's service! Also...they have a brand-new, awesome Flower Mound facility. Everyone there appears to love their job!

I feel like he takes an interest in each one of his patients and each get a lot of person attention. I feel very confident and comfortable going to this office. He also recommended another dentist to me that I am very happy with. I really wish that I had met him in my much earlier years.

Polished. 100% trust. 100% confidence. 100% professionalism. Every staff member, every time, in every context. I can only speak to the Baylor Medical Center Carrollton location on N. Josey Lane, as I did not visit his Flower Mound office. I usually do not write reviews, but people need to know how spectacular this surgeon and office is. Everyone is not just courteous, but nice, caring, professional and downright exceptional. They will do whatever they can to make your experience comfortable in every way imaginable, but they also allow you to make your own choices and do not force you in to anything you don't feel comfortable with or do not want. This is a very well-rounded group. My initial consult visit was fantastic. Polite, courteous, friendly and also to the point with expert delivery; a difficult equation to get right. Shannon checked me in with a genuinely friendly smile and minimal wait time. His assistant Beckey then took me to the exam room and made sure I was… comfortable; if I needed a blanket or the A/C turned up. Whatever it takes to make you comfortable in all respects is their goal. If you want a competent oral surgeon who looks you in the eye, shakes your hand with a smile and calls you by your first name, this is the man for you. Dr. Shillingburg entered the exam room, again with minimal wait time, highly congenial, took a thorough history, and oral exam. Beckey performed an in-office panoramic oral CT to get a view of nerves and other structures that may get in the way of the tooth to be extracted, which is standard of care. Dr. Shillingburg discussed the results in his pleasant and truthful manner and with the friendly help of Evelyn, I was on the books a week and a half later for the extraction. It is vital to know that no one in the office pushed me to remove the tooth; I came to him because I had four different dentists tell me I should have it removed, and wanted to shop around for the best person. Dr. Shillingburg came highly recommended by Dr. Jason Potter, MD, DDS who is double board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery as well as the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, who is a very talented surgeon but mostly does plastics and very long, complicated OMF surgery cases. If it wasn't for Dr. Jason Potter directing me to Dr. Shillingburg, I do not think I would have found him, which is why I think a review warrants writing, because he is amazing. A few days before my procedure, Cheryl called me to communicate what my insurance will pay and what I would owe. Again, very thorough and transparent but warm and with a sense of humor. Yesterday, 4/24/14, I had my first molar removed. As before, Shannon was very friendly, wait time was minimal, and comfort was of utmost importance. Beckey escorted me to the procedure room and offered me a blanket and if there was anything else she could do to make me more comfortable. She let me put on my headphones and relax to smooth jazz. I'm not high-maintenance, but I sure felt like this is the Ritz-Carlton of dental surgery offices! But I digress...It's important to note that this first molar had two prior root canals from a different provider years ago, and I had a localized infection at the root of the tooth, that caused dull, intermittent pain at baseline. Removing the first molar is a difficult job for any oral surgeon, but what made my case especially challenging was the two prior root canals along with the infection. The tooth was stubborn, but Dr. Shillingburg got that sucker out without damaging any surrounding bone, teeth or other oral structures, and with a pleasant demeanor. Furthermore, Beckey was one of the best assistants I've had during a dental procedure. Always on point, and I did not feel a single drop of fluid in the back of my throat. No gurgling, splashing or excessive swallowing. You will not feel like a water-boarding victim when you come to Dr. Shillingburg's office. I wore a new white shirt too, which made it even more of a sporting challenge, but again, everything was perfect, and I left with my white shirt intact. On a more personal note, I did not want any sedation or nitrous oxide, because I have had many orthodontic and dental procedures since childhood without sedation, so I'm used to it, but of course opted for a dental block, which Dr. Shillingburg performed beautifully. Beckey applied topical Hurricaine gel to dull the needle stick, which was very nice. Zero pain. Don't get me wrong; it was not a spa facial or delightful back rub on the beach in Tahiti, but for dental procedures, my pain was 0/10. Repeat: Zero out of ten. Had minimal contralateral jaw discomfort during the stubborn tooth extraction, but that was 100% expected, and was very temporary. There were no surprises during the procedure, as Dr. Shillingburg and Beckey communicated everything beforehand. Some people may want nitrous or sedation, and that is perfectly fine; there is nothing wrong with that. Again, there is nothing wrong with nitrous and/or sedation. The point is they give you a choice, do not pressure you one way or another, just want you to have a great experience and work around your needs as an individual. After the tooth was removed, a bone graft was applied, sutured a bit, then Beckey asked me if I would like any water, and gave me an ice pack for swelling. Discharge info was easy to follow, and my post op visit is scheduled. The evening of the procedure, I received a phone call asking how my experience was. All I can say is fantastic. I'm telling you...Ritz-Carlton! That day, I got the car washed, picked up my dogs from the groomer, and worked in the yard. I used multimodal pain therapy but have yet the need to take any Vicodin. I recently had implants for my lower teeth. Dr. Shillenburg performed the surgery and I was really impressed with the technology that he used to make sure that the implants were perfectly positioned. This was critical because I had had a lot of bone loss over the years. I checked with others and some were cheaper but I didn't have the confidence I had in Dr. Shillenburg. I had a terrible experience with a dentist as a child so I definitely have a fear of dentist. Dr. Shillinburg put me at ease with my first visit. I have been to two of his offices and the staff has be outstanding. The procedure was explained to me clearly and in a way I could understand. If you need an Oral Surgeon and want someone who is gentle, professional and really caring then this is the man you want to see.

I went to Dr. Shillingburg because a wisdom tooth had caused a tooth in front of it to abscess. I was very nervous about the whole process even at the first office visit. Dr. Shillingburgâ??s whole demeanor put me at immediate ease from the moment that I first consulted with him. He was very patient in explaining everything and in calming my nervousness about the whole process. The surgery was very quick and easy and afterwards I had no swelling. Post surgery pain management was managed extremely well. I would highly recommend Dr. Shillingburg and if my children ever need any kind of oral surgery I will take them to him.

I had a wisdom tooth removed and was very anxious. Dr Shillingburg was excellent in addressing all my questions, in relieving my anxiety, in managing pain control and in the actual surgery! I had no swelling, no pain and no issues after the surgery. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a caring, very skilled dentist or oral surgeon.
