Dr. John Andrew Simon, MD

Misdiagnosed me for years on several issues, and even after I changed doctors, his initial misdiagnosis muddied the waters and followed me. He certainly seemed very caring; it was really only after I left and got proper treatment that I realized how condescending he'd been, ignoring symptoms that alarmed my new doctor. Simon always seemed so kind and concerned, and I kept on going to him thinking he had everything under control, but he just hadn't taken my issues seriously.

Had a condition my doc couldn't figure out; went to Simon on a referral his clinic manager. He messed around with me for several years, always so patient, so kind. He told me there was nothing wrong with me. I lost my job of 29 1/2 years due to medical issues, and became basically bedridden. I had a major immunilogical issue with complications, one that is not very unusual and he should have been able to detect it in the five years I saw him. After it was found, I ordered my chart notes and lab results from the time I was with Simon, and you could see he thought I was a hypochondriac and he thought nothing was wrong. There were also several years of blood and lab results that all pointed to the condition I had, very clearly.Since i left him two years ago, I've had 11 surgeries related to the complications caused by him missing the issue. Although I'll always have to manage myself carefully, I'm able to walk several blocks now, and do things I thought I'd never do again.When I lay… dying, I want to be able to say, "Ah, excuse me, Grim Reaper, what about the 5 years i was with Dr. Simon? I didn't get to live them. Can't you go get them and give them back to me?"

Overall, very dissapointed with the care I received; misdiagnosed on two major issues, causing very serious issues with the 1st, and years of agony with the 2nd.

If you want a doctor that will treat you like a person, not an issue or problem, and genuinely care then Dr. Simon is your guy. He is an amazing doctor. I have seen a lot of doctors the past few years, and none of come even close to the way Dr. Simon treats me. He really cares, listens to you, and how you feel, and goes above and beyond his duties to find out the problem or issue you have. He has a very nice approach and makes you feel comfortable. I have been told that I have a complicated medical situation over and over, yet not once has it deterred Dr. Simon from helping me, and always helping figure out that next step. He is extremely smart, and doesn't just look for the easiest answer, he looks for the RIGHT answer. I have nothing but nice things to say about him, because he has helped me so much throughout my medical issues, and made such a difference. Easily best doctor I know. I just wish there were a way to recognize him for his work. If you go to see him, I promise you that… you won't regret it. Take my word, I have seen lots of doctors, and experienced all sorts of treatment from health care professionals. He is the best.
