I was scheduled for Dr Sirak’s closed chest procedure but had to go open chest and all went well. No episodes afib since operation in Norfolk at Sentara. Four years ago. He is a super person, as well as extremely competent.

This doctor was the best doctor a person could ask for, not only is he good at what he does, he is a truthful doctor, he won't lie to you as some do, he saved my life !!!

Dr. Sirak performed my total thorascopic heart surgery for atrial fibrillation in 2009 when I was 63. I continued to work as an RN until my retirement. My atrial fib has not returned and I have remained in normal sinus rhythm. Dr. Sirak took my case after speaking with me by phone and reviewing my records after which I traveled across country to see him and have surgery. He was great to deal with throughout my hospitalization and subsequent follow up monitoring. He truly represents the best of medical care in every way and I have told him that each year since.

My husband was retired Navy, 55 years old, with A-Fib. His heart was stopping seconds at a time in his sleep. They told us that he was going to have to have a pace maker and that at his age it would probably need to be replaced in his life time. I was diagnosed with permanent A-Fib at the age of 49. As I was on assignment in Germany at the time on behalf of the US Government, I flew into Columbus, Ohio from Frankfurt to Columbus, OH to Ross Heart Hospital. I called Dr. Sirak and asked him to take me on as a patient, without a physician referral. The man actually took the time on the phone to talk with me and asked me to send my medical records. I told him I did not want to waste time on an ablation as the cure rate was suspect. As I was young, I wanted a best chance of cure with his 5-box non-evasive procedure. After sending my medical records to him, Dr. Sirak accepted me as a patient and also scheduled me for his procedure within 30 days. Upon the day of surgery, while under the procedure, Dr. sirak discovered a medical issue in my heart that prevented him doing the 5-box. He immediately converted to open heart and corrected the issue plus performed a Cox IV Maze. It cured me of all of my heart issues. I have been in perfect… sinus with any drugs now for 3.5 years. Dr. Sirak did a thoracoscopic five-box maze procedure on me in 2011. It cured my atrial fibrillation and restored my heart to normal, steady rhythm. Only recently I've had some incidents of arrhythmia, as yet undiagnosed. Still, It's been a good five-year run. I was 81 years old when the maze procedure was performed.
