Dr. Tamerin has twice been honored by the graduating residents in the Department of Psychiatry and chosen Teacher of the Year “in recognition of his outstanding contribution as a teacher and scholar.”After graduation from Harvard College Dr. Tamerin completed his medical education at NYU School of Medicine. He then trained in psychiatry at Yale and Mt. Sinai Medical Center. Following this he spent 3 years doing clinical research at the NIMH National Center for the Prevention and Control of Alcoholism. Dr. Tamerin then came to Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan, Ct as Research Director and initiated their alcoholism and addiction program with Marty Mann founder of the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (NCADD). He served as consultant to the Alcohol and Addiction program at New York Hospital for 25 years and currently serves as a psychiatric consultant to Gen SOS an organization committed to helping adolescents and young adults deal with substance abuse issues.
