Dr. John Phillip Tanner, MD

Saw Dr Tanner for 5-10 minutes, explained my situation to him (need implants uncovered). He was extremely rude and sarcastic. Paid a little over $100 for the experience. He spent most of the the time reviewing x-ray and making notes. I decided I'd rather find another oral surgeon.

5 Stars! He did a terrific job extracting my 4 wisdom teeth. I highly recommend Dr. Tanner.

I had my implant and bone graph done years ago by a now retired dentist at this office who was AMAZING! I came back years later with an infection and lots of pain in the area of my implant. When I visited with Dr. Tanner he had no idea what it was, but said it looked like my implant could be failing & I may need another graph and a new implant or maybe it's just an infection that he could go in and clean. His bedside manner was horrible and he had no other options than to schedule surgery to see what it would need. He told me it could be anywhere between a few hundred dollars to $5k, but he wouldn't know until he went in?! His staff was to call me back after talking with my insurance company and get me some pricing so we could come up with a plan. Well, that never happened. I didn't even get a call. What I did get was a bill for $79! When I called the office regarding the wrong price for the visit they said they would review the charges and someone would get back to me and… again, no call back. Next thing you know, I am in collections for $79! So disappointed and will not be back. I feel like I should get paid for wasting my time in your office. Forgot to mention, my primary care put me on antibiotics and it cleared up. Thank you Dr. Tanner for exploring all options with me.

Dr. Tanner and the support staff could not be better at allaying anxiety. Believe me, I had plenty. After care directions were clear. I highly recommend this oral surgeon and the support staff.

Legitimately the rudest doctor I have ever came into contact with. His staff didn’t even have my right name. Then after he asked why I hadn’t come in sooner he accused me of lying that it took a month to get in. I left his office in tears and paid $200 for him to talk down to me and disregard any of my concerns or symptoms.

Just left this dentist office Doctor was rude. I had to wait an hour. Then he surprised me by telling me he needed to draw blood for the graft. After HE drew the blood and numbed my mouth he left the room and told me to keep direct pressure on my arm for two to three minutes . After about fifteen minutes of waiting and applying pressure to my arm I noticed a big lump in my arm. When I told tanner about it he immediately said " how long did you keep pressure on it ?" I told him 15 minutes So he wrapped it up. As he was wrapping it up I told him that I was not aware that tgeyceould be taking blood today. He responded by saying " would it have made a difference ?" Wow was I shocked ... So I went to this site and see I am not the only person he is rude to. I will take the time to research my new dentist who will perform the implant If I would have read this prior I wouldn't have gone to him .

I went to Dr Tanner upon referral from my dentist who said he was the "best". I waited 1 month to see him for a tooth extraction and bone graft in preparation for an implant. His bedside manner was deplorable, he was condescending, rude, insensitive and unprofessional. I had allergies and he came into the room and after introducing himself went into questioning me about my antibiotic allergies. He was obviously put out by the fact that I had several. I told him what I could take and he replied "we aren't a pharmacy". I didn't even know what he was getting at. Apparently they give antibiotics before the procedure so he gave me something I have never had in hopes I would not react adversely. He was so rude. I have not been treated like that by a medical professional EVER. The tray holding the instruments was covered by a tattered blue towel which looked like an old rag. I should have left before he ever started. Before he came into the room they came and spoke with me about… the extra cost so that I would be prepared to pay. They were very focused on the money. His technique left much to be desired. Rough, insensitive. I was wishing the whole time I had gone somewhere else. Now 1 week later I have an exposed bone graft that they charged me over $450 for, to fill the space where the tooth was removed. I have done everything as instructed. After the "glue" they placed over the stitches fell off the bone and bone graft were showing with only sutures holding the bone graft in place. I don't want to return but will go to see if he owns up to his responsibility to fix his complication or blames me, the patient, and tries to charge me more. I will not be having my implant done by this jerk and would not recommend him to anyone I cared about. He is the epitome of a Dentist/doctor so focused on money that he has no regard for the patient. Save yourself the hassle and GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!

My wife and I just had our wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Tanner and we were very pleased with how the surgery went and the detailed instructions that we were given post-surgery. Dr. Tanner and his staff were very intentional to answer all of our questions before and after surgery. He even called to check on us a few hours after surgery to see how we were doing. Overall, I think he's a very kind man and a great oral surgeon.
