Dr. John William Torchia, MD

Meet Dr. John Torchia
Dr. John W. Torchia graduated from Wake Forest University before completing his dental education at Fairleigh Dickinson University. He then completed a residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Connecticut. He has been in the private practice of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery since 1984, achieving Board Certification in 1987. He is also certified by the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology.
Dr. Torchia is a past president of the Massachusetts Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Valley District Dental Society and Hampshire Dental Society. He is currently president of the Massachusetts Dental Society of Anesthesiology. He is also Secretary/Treasurer of the Massachusetts Dental Society Political Action Committee.
Dr. Torchia is a member of the medical staff of Mercy Medical Center and Noble Hospital. He was Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Mercy Medical Center from 1996 to 2007.
In addition to private practice in his …offices in West Springfield, Westfield and Springfield, Dr. Torchia also provides oral surgery care to patients at the Holyoke Health Center. He is also actively involved in teaching dental residents and students at the Health Center having faculty appointments as part time clinical instructor from Harvard School of Dental Medicine, Boston University School of Dental Medicine and Lutheran Medical Center.
Dr. Torchia’s outside interests including forestry management, hunting, fishing, woodworking and surfing. He is an enthusiastic outdoorsman and conservationist.
