Dr. John Scott Trayer, DO

Dr. Trayer is probably the most incompetent doctor I've ever seen. He is condescending, arrogant, and clueless. I left my psychiatrist because of logistical frustrations and because he was a chauvinist. Dr. Trayer is ten times worse. Rather than make my next appointment at the time of my visit, I have to call in a month to make the appointment because "his schedule doesn't go out that far." Once seen, it is like pulling teeth to get medication called in to the pharmacy. My vacation to Florida was almost ruined because of the stress caused by not being able to get my meds filled in a timely manner before leaving. I had to get the script sent to Florida by my pharmacy, and they were not covered by my insurance there. He cannot receive messages throughout the day. I was told not to be even one minute late to an appointment, or he would not see me- yet I once waited an hour and ten minutes. Also, he seems not to care one bit about the effect medication has, insisting that if I just… exercise more, I will not have weight gain. He even went so far as to coach me on exercises for my "core"- this coming from someone who is morbidly obese. He calls in the wrong dosage of medication, and the wrong amounts. Please save yourself the frustration, degradation, and stress. Go somewhere else. And not to this facility. The physician's assistant was worse!

He is rude, he is narcissistic, he is condescending and his receptionists are just as rude!

His bedside manner was just terrible. I almost felt belittled or like I was a bother to him. He rolled his eyes while I was talking, several times. I felt very uncomfortable. He was a last minute replacement for the psychiatrist I had been seeing. He immediately wanted to change all of my meds without even getting to know me or asking how I was doing on them. I refuse to see him again. Period.

I know this is long- but please do read this. I had begun seeing Dr. Trayer over 2 years ago at the tender age of 18. During the time I was in his so called "care," the primary diagnosis was made incorrectly due to his ignorance to look to the obvious problem right in front of his eyes. During the time I was seeing him, I had an eating disorder that progressed to the point to which I lost near 1/3 of my body weight, and was hospitalized numerous times due to complications of blackouts from low vital signs, blood sugar, potassium, and so forth before finally receiving inpatient treatment at the pleading of my therapist who diagnosed me. He remained blatantly in denial of the issue- so much as saying, there was no problem, even after the second concussion, and hospital trip. After over 2 years I finally went inpatient to receive eating disorder treatment, and needed iv potassium, fluids, the whole nine yards, and stepped down into an eating disorder partial, and took medical leave from… school. I checked in following my stay in inpatient to see him, and he had not even the slightest clue I had been hospitalized, and didn't bother looking at the discharge work he had received a week ago. Even during my appointment. At this point when I was in treatment, and he still determined he did not need to treat the eating disorder, I realized I needed to leave. He would not even diagnose me. I have not been back to him. I hope that someone who reads this no matter their need can avoid this. He only cares about the money, not the patients. If I did not see him once a month- even though I was supposedly fine- he would not refill my medication- and I went to a college 3 hours away, and missing class was a hardship, not to mention the gas it took to come home so frequent. There was a time he got in my face and said he was the boss, and I was wrong. It still haunts me. No one ever should be subject to that.

I have spent some time with this so called doctor and he still has not decided how much or which med to put me on. He is very inconsiderate about this patients time or concerns. I have had to wait as little as 15 min (which was rare) to as long as 1 hour and 15 minutes). He would ask questions but never seemed interested in your answers. DO NOT waste your time

Dr. Trayer was the worst psychiatrist I've ever known of. Before leaving I had 4 visits (for my 2 children). The shortest wait we had was 35 minutes and the longest 55 minutes. Only 1 of those times was he with another patient. He was cordial once,rather distracted twice, and one time he was very distant and just responded to my kids with "yeah", "well" and "ok". He fell asleep during 2 of our appointments and pretty much ignored my concerns during 3 visits even though my daughter would not sleep and my son became a zombie. save your time and the lives of your children.
