Dr. John Mason Tyler, MD

I love Dr. Tyler, Monica Preston, Joanne and the rest of the staff, with one exception; the office assistant (not sure of her title) Shay (sp?). Twice I've attempted to relay a message to the N.P.'s and twice she hasn't listened to me, interrupted me and then on one call, I'm pretty sure that she hung up on me. I wasn't yelling or cursing, but was firm, because of her way of handling my two questions. First, I talked to her directly and the 2nd time I specifically left a message for the N.P. with an easy yes or no answer. Shay fielded the call and I understand that there's pretty much always a gatekeeper, but she wanted to know the exact question, even though I told her what it was regarding. The N.P.'s know my situation; they have my chart notes and history and I was NOT comfortable talking to that particular young lady, but to the person I directed my inquiry to. The 1st time I had a question, there wasn't a reply back from either N.P., so I don't feel like Shay practiced due… diligence or bothered to let them know. It was also pretty much a yes or no question. When the call disconnected, she didn't call back, hence my appraisal of the situation was that she hung up. She kept at me for the exact nature of the question. I'm reconsidering even going back there. I enjoy Dr. Tyler's expertise and humor and Monica, Joanne, et al, are great, but I don't need to deal with that kind of baloney. Hence, the three stars, not five.

After waiting what seemed like forever for my first appointment with Dr. Tyler, once I finally got to that day, I was happy to meet him. He took over an hour listening to me, examining me, and he SHOWED ME where my pain was coming from! He's very funny, yet serious, listened actively to me (the patient,) and my husband and son (listening to their perspective on living with someone in chronic pain.) I found that to be refreshing. Now, it is tough to get through to the office sometimes, and I wouldn't recommend an appointment right after their lunch hour- they hold their staff meetings during their lunch hour and sometimes they run over. But, I have to admire that the staff is willing to work through their lunch to make sure all the patients' needs, updates and insurance issues are getting addressed. Dr. Tyler has a NP Monica Preston who will see you when Dr. Tyler can't. She's very nice, listens, and is willing help you with any medication issues. I have very few meds I can be on and… she's willing to help you find the right one. I love this office, Dr. Tyler, and Ms. Preston! Highly recommend!!

Dr Tyler spends time, Monica seems always in a hurry and I felt like I had to try to explain quickly and she doesn't stick around and spend time with me to really understand. very nice just seems rushed and in a hurry to move on.

Dr. Tyler is the first doctor who ever explained to me how and why the meds I had been prescribed over the years weren't working. He was personable and not snooty like most doctors and I have improved greatly under his care.

Office staff is very kind and understanding. They always find an appointment for me that will work with my work schedule. Jen and Sha are the BEST!!! Dr. Tyler is "alright" too! Monica NP is the bomb!! :) I would recommend this office for pain control - they really do care!!

Love this man!!! He is a very special person, who really cares!

Dr. Tyler and specifically Monica are excellent health care providers. Some of the folks behind the desk are a bit abrupt and cold, but Monica and Dr. Tyler are the penultimate professors, showing empathy and deep experience.

Very strange and upsetting encounter with Dr. Tyler. Talked bout himself and used a lot of sexual connotations and inappropriate touching and would not let me talk about my actual pain and where it was. Took no vitals but was prescribing medication without knowing true medical history. Came out of first appointment knowing it would be my last. Do not go to this office unless you want to feel violated.

Wonderful caring doctors, that listen to your problems

I finally found a physician who understands me and can properly treat my chronic issues with pain. Dr. Tyler is amazing. a brilliant, funny and caring doctor. love the staff also.
