Dr. John Willem Verheul, MD

I have been an VCU pat. for 15+ yrs. I saw Dr. J. Verheul and with in minutes he said, Lisa you will end up with a pace maker. Sure enough I ended up with one the following year. This is truly a brilliant Dr. I have other medical issues however I choose not to share at this time. But I can honestly say, he is a truly brilliant, trustworthy physician you can trust your health on. Thank you, L. Desmond

I thought Dr. Verheul was the #1 doctor in my life time. I'm now 74 years old and going to another doctor with the same group which is also a great doctor. My reason for leaving Dr. Verheul was the changes he made in his practice that I could no longer afford him. There was one statement he made on paper that I did not understand on my last visit with him. That word was IDEOLOGY. I did not see that until I left his office therefore I would have confronted him as to what he meant by that one word. He has always been a perfect gentleman in which I admired as a doctor and gave me the very best of care and I highly recommend him to anyone. Dr. Verheul, You can see Mary has not changed her personality and tells it like it is. :O)

My husband and I have seen Dr. V for many years - we lived in another location for 12 years and when we returned to the Richmond area, we returned to his practice, grateful that he was still accepting patients. True, sometimes the wait was longer than desired, but I always knew that he would give me the time I needed with him as well. I would rather wait than be one of the patients herded through. We are now in Dr. V's Concierge practice and consider it to be the most well spent money we have ever invested in our health. His staff is also caring and personable and a great complement to his practice.

The best doctor I have ever seen. He is a fantastic diagnostician. Great bedside manner. I have been seeing him for about 16 years.

Does not appear sincere, interested in talking and not listening. Appears dishonest, concerned regarding his recent inappropriate drug prescribing practices resulting in disciplinary action by the Virginia Board of Nursing.

Don't like no longer being able to do bloodwork in advance to not have to wait until after appointment for results. Also,although wife and I have been his patients for over 20 years, it is impossible to speak with John on phone when needed. Needs to be more available to patients. Office wait times are always too long.

Dr. Verheul has been my physician for many years and always answers my questions fully, has a very pleasant personality and is knowledgeable about every facet of his profession. He's a great guy and a wonderful doctor.
