Dr. Winston has done what most doctors would have considered impossible to do with me. I had one of the biggest tumors he had seen, he managed to remove it and save me from having to use a colostomy. My issues are most likely a lifetime battle and I will continue to use him to help me. If you're thinking about having him as your doctor, do it!

I suffered for several years with extreme bowel incontinence, not knowing when or how long I had to get to the bathroom. Three different doctors tried different medicines some would work for a short time ,then the diarrhea would overpower and I was right back at square one . Dr. Winston implanted a stimulator in my hip. When that also didn't work completely, he decided to look through my meds( I take a lot of them) he noticed I was taking 4 metformin 500mg twice daily for diabetis . He said stop those and have my primary Dr. prescribe something else. Within 3 days my movements returned to what they were years ago. I no longer have to plan ahead or sit around the house not knowing what kind of day I will have. Anyone with similar symptoms and taking metformin should ask their Dr. about it. A special thanks to Dr. John H. Winston 111 for giving me my life back. Thanks Dr. John ,You are my hero. I am 75 yrs. old .

beware, office staff lied to scam me for money. I asked how much a recommended procedure (just probes attached to skin and data recorded for 5min) would cost so i can schedule it while I was there. They told me just my regular $35 copay. Got a bill for $411. This was because i had not met my deductible which i am unfamiliar with because i rarely go to the doctor. The staff was aware of the fact that i had not met my deductible based on the verification form THEY filled out. I scheduled a follow up app and the rude billing manager would not let me see the Dr. until I paid this amount and continued to lie and say my insurance told her i was only responsible for the copay. She also lied and said it was policy I cannot see the Dr. until i pay my balance. I was so fed up with the lies my head almost exploded.I gave her my credit card so that I could see Dr. Winston to explain to him what his office staff was doing, soon after Dr. Winston came out of his office and told me I need to be seen… by another office and that it was best if I left, quickly dismissing me. He had no concern of what the issue was for me as a patient being scammed by his staff. Well they got their money.

Dr. Winston likes to hear himself talk. Patient care is secondary. I wish I could give him zero stars. During my visit, I talked to him about my long ordeal of medical issues and care. Instead of offering solutions and focusing on patient care, I had to hear about studies, all of which never addressed how my disease was presenting. Given his length of experience, I would think he would provide guidance on what he has seen and treated versus what he reads. Going to him made me miss my doctors back home who were sought after for their actual patient treatment/work not for scholarly articles. When I asked Dr. Winston about my disease and what I should expect, he called them "trick questions." I was disbelief that a person with his background could not offer guidance on an area that is his self-proclaimed subject matter expertise. Yet, he was all too happy to recommend surgery WITHOUT even looking at my scans and medical history. The plane ticket back home will be well worth it to get… the best medical treatment. Dr. Winston was simply a disappointment.

I was referred to Dr. Winston by my Gastroenterologist to remove a portion of my colon due to recurrent diverticulitis. It was a very positive experience: Dr. Winston met with my spouse and I promptly at the appointed time. He had already received my records and clearly took the time to thoroughly familiarize himself with my case beforehand. The first thing you’ll notice is that Dr. Winston is very outgoing and friendly which in turn can put you at ease over any surgical procedure. Dr. Winston carefully listens to every question, concern, issue or comment. He thoroughly answers all question and notably answers in plain english without a lot medical jargon. My procedure went just as Dr. Winston described. I’ll also add that Dr. Winston’s staff were great and he has great support staff at the nearby NCBH hospital.

I've been seeing Dr. Winston for about 6 years. I am a female in my early 50s with various problems associated with Pelvic Organ Prolapse that have effected by colorectal area. Not only is Dr. Winston compassionate, he is sensitive to the needs of his patients and UNDERSTANDS when they say they are in pain. He has, and continues to strive to get me functional and PAIN FREE. I love this doctor because I know he is doing everything within his power to help me. As well, he has a sense of humor and always brings a smile to my face when I sometimes don't feel like smiling. I strongly recommend him.
