Dr. John Simpson Woodward

Would not send anyone I care about to him. Egotistical, rude, scary and defensive for no reason. People like this can create a hostile environment which conceivably could endanger a patient's life in the operating room. If people speak up they can incur his wrath and dismissal There are great specialized surgeons in Denver who have great bedside manner, and national recognition for their top notch surgical skills as well. Go for both; they do exist. Pick a surgeon that specializes in whatever your issue is.

Might be good with surgery but not nice. Poked at my stomach fat and grabbed at it shaking it yelling, “LOOK AT THIS, LOOK AT THIS! “Stoping short of saying I’m disgusting at least that’s the way he made me feel. He even said under his breath but loud enough to here, “your going to die!” Everyone in his office could hear him, it was so horribly embarrassing I walked out in tears. He didn’t believe anything I tol him about my chronic Lyme disease and calls his infections disease friend to prove me wrong. I just sat in shock. He was yelling at me that I need a bariatric surgeon before he does any sugery on me and gave me the name of one after I told him I went to Dr Tillman in his building. He proceeded to bash Dr Tillman and another surgeon whom told me not to do bariatric surgery. Dr Woodward told me I need 2 knee replacements. Had second opinion and was told I’ve done knee surgeries on much bigger people then you and that I’ll be able to loose weight easier cause I can walk. I only… need a partial on one knee and the other needs injections. When he was made to call me and opolgize for his horrific behavior I asked why he said I needed 2 knees. He blew one knee off then said because I don’t do partials. Wow, so he would do 2 full knee replacements that I don’t kneed instead of sending me to someone for 1 partial replacement that he can’t do! He is greedy and acts as a used car salesmen. He is scary because 2 yrs ago he repaired a torn miniscus on me in a 20 minn procedure. I pretty much walked out, no pain and he gave me 90 OxyContin. I thought it was a red flag but was giving him the benefit of the doubt. I see him 2 yrs later and he’s much more egotistical and a salesman then before. I guess he figured I’d tell my friends he gives oxy like candy. He’s very scary, stay far away. I have no problem with any Dr saying it would be benifical to loose weight but he’s mean.

Dr. Woodward is an excellent surgeon. I base this not only on my own experience, but on the comment of another surgeon ("If my mom needed a knee replacement, I'd send her to John.") He moves quickly through an appointment, but he listens carefully. I've found that even when I mention a concern in passing, he addresses it (either then, or with a follow-up phone call from his staff or his excellent PAs). Mike and Wayne are terrific PAs. I can count on them to address any of my questions between appointments in a timely manner. Dr. Woodward's staff is awesome. I especially appreciated the help with all the pre-op preparations and appointments needed and the help with getting my disability paperwork done quickly.

He may be an adequate surgeon but treats staff very poorly in the operating room environment. This creates stress and is a threat to patient care. He is a very egotistical and sanctimonious individual when his patients aren't looking. I would avoid like the plague.

From the first appointment with Dr. Woodward I knew I was in good hands. I especially appreciated his candor and approach to my condition. He and his staff answered my questions, scheduled surgery to meet my needs and took excellent care of my while I was hospitalized. I most heartily recommend Dr. Woodward if you need your knee(s) fixed!

I consider Dr. John Woodward an excellent surgeon and physician. Always, right on the money with the diagnosis and the recommended path to take for what needs to be made better. Does not take heroic chances. Love his humor.

I trust Mr Woodward. His visits are quick and I sometime don't remember my follow up questions until he's gone. I believe this is more my issue in trying to be more prepared. Everyone is busy.

I was referred to Dr. Woodward from an Orthro Dr in Grand Junction, Co. I had appt with this Dr. and I was totally impressed as soon as he walked in the door. Dr. Woodward has the most professional attitude, This man is a Super surgeon, and anyone needing Ortho surgery, you need to contact this Dr. he is top notch. No Questions about it. His whole staff is equal to him.He was very through with his info and what had to be done. AMAZING.

I was seen by Dr. Woodward Jr he is the best. He never raced thru an appointment till all of my questions and concerns were answered. He is a GREAT doctor would recommend him to anyone.
