Dr. John Robert Zaso, DO

First let me say, Dr. John Zaso is AMAZING and the PA and Nursing staff are just a great! But I agree with the comments here about the front desk. The quality, customer service, and medical office operations are failing. They've seen several of my children for OVER 20 YEARS. We live in Suffolk and have been driving to Nassau (40+ minutes) EVERY YEAR for exams and sick visits. Each time, we're faced with antiquated poorly photo copied patient forms to complete. One child has correct contact info. The others don't. Seriously? Do we not tell you they're siblings on the forms? Phone numbers on file that we haven't used for close to 15 years. That's the level of streamlined operations we're talking about at this place. Schedule appointments months in advance like most parents, and admittingly I got the day correct, wrong time. Shame on me. Flew my son home from college just for this wellness exam, how can we fix this, I asked receptionist Kristen Walsh. You can't, she replied, and you… haven't updated your phone numbers in two years. The office was unable to confirm the appointment anyway, she said. Not one single apology from Ms. Walsh who refused to have my children seen by PA Angela Carry who was in office for another 2 hours before closing. Answer was a hard NO. I wouldn't have been any the wiser the correct appointment time. Anyone with half a brain could have looked at the forms we fill out EVERY SINGLE YEAR and see I've used the same number for the last 20 years, or better yet, try calling the number you called a week ago to confirm my other child's appointment??? Absolutely NO accountability on the office's end for their poor record keeping. Kristen Walsh doubled down, yet somehow couldn't explain how forms are completed, patients are seen, insurance billed, and copays made EACH YEAR but we can't reconcile phone numbers for siblings? Really?? Can you even be seen by the doctor without the excruciating amount of paperwork one has to complete EVERYTIME you set foot in the office? Help this make sense to me? The only thing that makes sense is the office has expanded, there are more doctors and PAs, more space and exam rooms, but the practice has not invested in 21st century technology, streamlined operations, and MOST OF ALL common courtesy when honest mistakes are made your practice drops the ball confirming appointments with multiple family members. Here's one patient experience flatlining at poor (to say the least). I wish the reception desk experience was half the caliber of what's received in the exam room. ALL I CAN SAY IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. Keep looking if you're ISO of a high quality pediatrics practice.

I absolutely love bringing my son here for his checkups or vaccinations to Dr. Zaso himself, however, whenever I speak to certain women at the front desk over the phone, they tend to be very rude and seems like they just want to get you off the phone right away. They always seem so impatient and it makes me so annoyed because I'm supposed to love speaking to the people in charge of my son, but they are just absolutely terrible and have no telephone manners.

When my first child was born I was using a different doctor until I spoke to my neighbor who was using Dr. Zaso. So I switched over. my son is now going on 10 and my second is going to be 4. would most definitely recommend using Dr. Zaso for your children!

Excelente Doctor. He was amazona when My daughter has an accident he was very lindo and helpfull.

Best pediatrician ever and is very kind

We have been going to Dr. Zaso for 11 years. He is a great doctor that has always given an accurate diagnosis. He spends time answering your questions. He is always willing to fit you in for illness and will actually respond to those emergency calls. We love Dr. Zaso.

Been taking my children to Dr Zaso for many years. Started out great but over the last year or so his whole attitude has changed. Just not the same. Always rushing, talks down to staff. Feel like he just doesn't care about kids . Mostly concerned about money and how many patients he can squeeze in. Sadly looking for a new Pediatrician. I will say the staff tries very hard to accommodate the patients and nurses are very sweet. It's a shame. I miss the old Dr. Zaso

My experience with Dr. Zaso was 2yrs ago. In my experience I felt that he was ok when it was a well visit. However, he seemed very rushed and annoyed when it was a sick visit. My then 1 yr was very sick for a couple of days. Took him to Dr. Zaso who didn't seem like he was listening to my concerns and annoyed. I took heed to his recommendations to give motrin and wait. My son got worse as the week progressed. I chose to get a second opinion from another pediatrician because I put off by how I was handled during my last visit. My son was admitted by current pediatrician for 3 days and needed intense IV therapy. 3 yrs later I am now very happy and please with my current doctor and do not feel rushed and not listened to.

I have been going to Dr. Zaso for 9 years now and recently I feel like he does not give you the time. He is always rushing, not really listening to what you are telling him, too involved in charting on the computer and some of the staff are unfriendly. I am sad to day I am seriously considering changes Pediatricians after all these years

The staff working for Dr. Zaso are rude and discuss patients loud for others to hear. They are unprofessional and cold in demeanor. Dr. Zaso himself spends as little time with children as possible. You feel like a sheep being herded.
