Dr. John J Zavala, DDS

As someone who is constantly stimulated by learning new things, I also enjoy using many skills to achieve a final result. Because alleviating the fear that patients often have of dentists is one of my foremost priorities, I am constantly rewarded when patients complete their first visit and realize that there was no pain. When they understand that they can go through treatment without stress and take care of themselves confidently in after-care, I am thoroughly excited and proud to be a doctor.

I love the stories that my patients share. Because I have been seeing some people for over ten years, I have the extreme pleasure of watching their lives change over time. It is also a wonderful feeling when I observe the health they gain as their teeth and smiles improve through visits and treatment.

Providing healthcare runs in my family, and I have always looked up to dentists when I was younger, which inspired me to become one myself. I did my undergraduate work at Baylor University …and then went to the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio where I received my final degree.

My formative years were spent in Detroit, Michigan, and then in Brownsville, Texas. I have lived in Austin for over ten years and am married to a wonderful woman with whom I have four beautiful kids. When I'm not at the office, you can find me with my family, traveling, playing sports, and working out. My passion outside of my profession is my family, soccer, track and field, and learning about different cultures.
