Dr. John Alfred Zora, MD

I'm 72 yrs old,have been with atl allergy clinic for 37 yrs,my Doctoc retired,and I've been lost since ,had to beg for the clinic to keep up my shots,I stopped taking them for a yr to care for aging parents and went into and allergic cycle,sick every 2 to 3 months, I went back to atl allergy clinic and begged them to start me back on shots,with much resistance sheerin did,I just remember her rolling her eyes,she did not want to treat me,I felt uncomfortable so I went to Dr Zora,it's been over a year i have been doin great ,went in for my yearly and zora tells me he's taking me off my shots,when I ask why he said I'm old ,skin is not the same and it's NOT COST EFFECTIVE ,what ever that means,i feel discriminated against because of age,I have proved this works for me,they could care less,

When I went in to see Dr. Zora for some allergy tests, I was not only disappointed but very concerned with his response to the tests. Before the tests were administered I was told that this testing was only about 50% accurate. I told him about my concerns with my fast progressing symptoms. When he looked at the results of my tests he told me that I was allergy free. That confused me because on multiple occasions I had food allergy reactions, directly after eating said food and if I don’t eat it, I don’t have a reaction. So I asked him, if im allergy free why am I having these reactions? He responded that sometimes we just don’t know why these things happen. Then I asked that if the test was about 50% accurate how he could be so sure that im allergy free. His response was that he pretty much trusts the test, but if I was still concerned that I could come back in and eat the peanut butter in front of him to see if my lips swell. Are you kidding me? I came in because of my allergies, I… have many not just to foods, that progress quickly and I feared that I could at any time go into anaphylactic shock, which an epipen would only maybe give me some time to get to the hospital or I could die if I couldn't get help fast enough. There is no reason for me to eat something I know I have a severe reaction to in front of him to prove that I had a reaction. I felt that he was basically telling me he didn't trust what I said, almost like he was implying I was lying because he trusts the test he just told me was 50% accurate. I was unhappy with his response before of just not knowing, but to suggest something like that, knowing I have fast progressing allergies and that my symptoms are already severe just blew me away. That sounded incredibly dangerous and irresponsible to even suggest . That was a little less than a year ago. I have since gone to a better informed doctor, who not only trusted me when I said I had a reaction, but told me that symptoms are the body's way of telling us something is wrong, and that we were going to figure it out(they don't just happen and we don't know why). I have since had DNA testing that shows in my genes that I do in fact have a crazy high likelihood of developing a peanut allergy, which I have. My new doctor even was able to explain how some genes like mine for developing peanut allergies may not present themselves at first because of a threshold that is needed to be met before the gene expresses itself. Moral of the story, Dr. Zora does not know how to help you if his 50% accurate allergy test doesn't work properly. If you actually want some help, go to someone who will believe you when you know your body is exhibiting symptoms, and someone who will try to actually figure out the root cause of what's going on! Everyone deserves to be believed and treated!! Not to mention an expensive visit just to be told you can't be helped.

It was my first visit with Doctor John Zora at Atlanta Allergy and Asthma in Alpharetta, GA. I was very impress with his step by step process to determine the proper allergy test to perform. Doctor Zora was very professional and his assistants provided excellent care throughout the allergy testing.

Dr. Zora is an extremely caring doctor and takes great care of my son when he comes into his clinic. I couldn't ask for a better doctor as he is knowledgable, kind, and explains everything very clearly for us. Thank you!

Dr. Zora was quick to prescribe Advair (first visit) to my young child that went in with seasonal asthma. A black box warning was added in 2010 and he never warned us, the pharmacy didn't warn us, the GSK ad's didn't warn us...my child was a statistic of the rare but fatal paradoxical bronchospasm after taking her daily dose on an other wise normal day for us. My 11 yr old child lost consciousness within minutes and was pronounced within 58 mins of the 911 call. This is a gross negligence on the part of Dr. Zora, the entire practice of Atlanta Allergy & Asthma Clinics and Glaxo Smith Kline. Google all your asthma meds, cross reference CDC and FDA cautions and "you" have to read every package insert, every time you open a new package and educate yourself. The Ga Tort reform protects everyone but you and your children. Dr's nor pharmacist need inform you. Shocked? It is indeed shocking.

Dr. Zora is a wonderful Doctor, kind, caring for his patients and I would recommend him to everybody.
