Dr. Jon A Arnason, MD

I have been a patient for a while. Does not answer questions very well, seems uncomfortable with patient collaboration. Appears nervous and wanting to end yearly office visits quickly. Hard to work with. Does not collaborate well. Relies on own (often mistaken authority) rather that a combination of training and patient reports.

Desperately searching for answers to my chronic pain I was hopeful that seeing a rheumatologist would give me the answers I needed. When I had seen Dr. Arnason I was literally in his office for maybe 8 minutes. It was obvious that he was in a rush. I had brought all my records which he didn’t look at and he only glanced at his computer screen for a second. It was obvious he didn’t know anything about my medical history. He told me he couldn’t find anything wrong with me and my pain was due to lack of exercise and old age! Seriously I’m 42 that’s not old! I calmly informed Dr. Arnason that I was exercising daily up until the pain started, but he didn’t listen. Unfortunately for me I left his office crying, feeling defeated, and that my pain was all in my head. I decided not to give up and found another Rheumatologist who immediately on the first visit spent around 45min with me and by evening personally called me to tell me I had Ankylos Spondylitis which causes chronic pain. I would… never recommend this doctor to anyone! He shouldn’t even be practicing if he doesn’t want to do his job.

Thorough, careful, took time to understand my condition and history. I felt listened to, cared for and collaborated with.

The doctor is competent. My illness is a disease that affects multiple organs and joints throughout the body. Dr. Arnesen looks at my hands for 5 minutes. Asks me my degree of pain, and tells me to come back in 4 months.
