Dr. Jon B Marashi, DDS

If you are looking for somebody to take care of your dental hygiene, look no further than Dr. Marashi and his staff. I was a cancer patient for three years, during which I could not see a dentist. He was able to quickly diagnose and treat three years worth of dental issues while being one of the kindest and most compassionate doctors I have ever met; and after cancer, I am one to have had a lot of experience with doctors. You can see the work that he's done on many famous faces, but he treats every client as if they were his most important. He has followed up with me several times over the phone to see how I was feeling after my dental treatments, and is sure to ask how my health is moving forward over all. It is easy for me to visit the dentist because I know I will be receiving the best and kindest care from a true professional. Thank you, Dr. Marashi.

Run away as fast as you can. I recently sought out Dr Marashi’s office for a teeth cleaning. 1200 dollars later I am deeply regretting that decision. When you call them the front desk are very friendly on the phone. They tell you that Dr Marashi will only schedule you for a teeth cleaning if you pay a consultation fee as well. My dentist recently retired so after much deliberation (as this was not what I originally planned to spend) I agreed. I made an appt for the 21st. They asked for a cc to hold the appointment which I thought was strange at first for a dentists office, but I obliged. Mind you this was 2 days before my appointment. So on feb 21st I show up to my appointment. I get my teeth cleaned and see Dr Marashi for the general exam. Marashi then proceeds to tell me all the reasons I need new xrays, dental work and realigning of my teeth (I had braces for 5 years already). This will only cost me $750 such a steal! He tells me I will have many issues in the future if I don’t look… to solve these problems now. Then he pressures me to do this service while I am still in the office. He also told me I should do his special teeth whitening. I could get my teeth several shades whiter. I couldn’t stay longer as I had already been there 2.5 hours and was late for work. When I checked out at the front desk I spoke with Gaddiel. He told me my charge for the appointment was $140 and would I like to schedule for the full xrays etc. I asked, “only 140?” And he said yes implying the $250 charge had been waived. I was surprised but impressed so I chose to proceed thinking I could trust Marashi and that he was a stand up guy. I came back later the same day to do the $750 service. While it was extensive I still feel it was grossly overpriced. I received xrays, a mold of my teeth and photographs. He told me he would look everything over and that I should make a follow up appointment. He also mentioned again teeth whitening. So I made an appt for the 28th and also scheduled teeth whitening. Who doesn’t want whiter teeth? Plus all the celebs that come to him (he shoves that fact right in your face via magazines, movie posters and signed memorabilia.) have very white teeth. Well, when I saw him again he was a different person. When I initially saw him he told me I would never need jaw surgery for my off bite. First words out of his mouth were, “well the only way to really fix your issue is jaw surgery.” I would never get surgery so that wasn’t never even an option. He then goes on to give me a list of his prices to fix everything. (5000 dollars for 2 inlays, a partial filling and a night guard) and suggests I see his orthodontist. Who no surprise has horrible reviews after googling him. Another doctor who grossly overcharges well over market prices. After our appt. I stay to get my teeth whitened. This was the most disappointing part of all. My teeth barely got one shade lighter. I had far better results with crest white strips and it didn’t cost me $550 for them. Plus the procedure was quite painful. One of my clients paid less for retainers you sleep in and her teeth are beautifully white. When I told Dr Marashi I expected them to be whiter he told me, “whiter?! Just come back and do it again!) the nerve of this man! The icing on the cake to all of this was when I received my credit card bill. They in fact, hadn’t waived the consultation fee as I was told, but had charged my card the $250 consultation fee two days before my appointment on the 19th. Without consent from me. I was never told my card would be charged before services were rendered. Who does that? What if I had called the next day and canceled? I never received a receipt of the transaction nor was I told on the phone I would be prepaying for an appointment. I have gone to many high end spas and drs but never once has anyone charged me before I even received the services. When I called to speak with them the woman at the front desk was extremely rude. She tried to tell me that by giving them my credit card to hold the appointment that that was giving my permission to charge me. Sorry but that is not how it works. You do not charge someone before services are rendered unless you have explicit permission which I did not give. I have obviously contested this charge with my credit card company. She then hung up on me while in mid conversation. I am truly disgusted by this place and very disappointed in Dr Marashi. But I guess he has to find a way to pay for his fancy house in the palisades. He seems to care more about being a celebrity himself then about actually providing people with the best care. Do yourself a favor and find someone who is less concerned with the glitz and glamour and more concerned with quality of care. I was dumb enough to think celebrities choose the best doctors but I am the fool. One person gets conned by him and they all follow like sheep. I saw someone several days later who specializes in tmj and jaw alignment and he fixed my bite in one a hour session for far less money and without surgery. Go figure.
