My husband went to UIHC ER with pain radiating down L leg that we thought was sciatica. Dr. VH knew it was something else. The lab work he ordered revealed congestive heart failure and presence of blood clots. He ordered CT scan, which confirmed presence of two "sub-massive" clots in my husband's pulmonary artery, one in each branch. We went to the ER thinking he'd get some pain meds, perhaps an MRI, and go home. We never dreamed that his condition was serious and so NOT sciatica! Dr. VH admitted my husband to CVICU (he was discharged 6 days later).Dr. VH's ability to accurately and quickly diagnose my husband's health issues saved his life. AND his manner with patients is fantastic. Dr. VH was calming, but honest and forthright throughout. His bedside manner was what any patient would want for themselves or family.Kudos to Dr. VH!
