Dr. Jonathan William Bekenstein, MD

I've come to the point were I agree with the recent 4 opinions on Dr. Beckenstein. He might seem nice and good at first, but as he's treated my neurological disorder, epilepsy, for the past 8 years, it's gotten harder and harder to get any help from him over the phone. The appointments have been dragged out to 4 to 5 months apart. When I see him, and give him information on what's happened lately, and how the side effects of the medicines are, he has sort of just tosses aside. It's even gotten to the point were they have, at times, considered my epilepsy as psychological. I can definitely say no to that, because in '92 I had to undergo neurosurgery for it out at the Mayo Clinic (which was at least 50% successful). Also, at one time he had me on a medicine that, as my Mother has said, turned me into a zombie. She called them up to complain about that and get some help. The only message Dr. Beckenstein sent via a nurse was " I'm glad he's feeling alright" I would not suggest Dr.… Beckenstein as a neurologist, to anyone.

I had been referred to Dr Beckenstein and he was very rushed during my exam. He quickly gave me a diagnosis and handed me a pamphlet and said he would order tests to rule out other possibilities My diagnosis required medication trial and error and follow ups, etc. He never prescribed me anything the day I saw him, and apparently went on vacation immediately after and never put in orders for my tests, I left at least 6 messages over the course of the next month with the front staff, his nurse, etc. That was 8 years ago. I still have nor heard back. That should tell you what its like to see him.

Saw Dr Beckenstein and he had a good bedside manner, gave a thorough exam, but never followed thru on the MRI he was supposed to order. I called and called and called and was told he was on vacation, then another excuse. Then I left messages for his nurse. That was 10 years ago, still have not gotten the MRI or the return call.

Physician is very nice, but I seek doctors for my health.

I would like to agree with the other positive views of Dr. Bekenstein, but I don't. He is flippant, dismissive, and doesn't take his patients seriously. Calls to his office almost always go unreturned which is extremely surprising giving the litigious nature of society today. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone.

I found it very difficult to get my first initial appointment with Dr. Bekenstein, had to wait 6 months to get in. But, he is well worth the wait! He spends a lot of time with me every time I see him. He explains test results very thoroughly and has a wonderful demeanor. He researches your history to diagnosis your problem. I had 3 other neurologists in the past and he is by far the BEST!

Dr. Bekenstein is a top rate neurologist!

Dr. B was able to provide tangible answers to the problems I have been experiencing post-brain surgery. He spent so much time walking me through the reasons for my symptoms and the options available for future treatment.
