Dr. Jonathan Newell Clapp, MD

My husband had knee replacement surgery and Dr. Clapp was his post surgery doctor. He was so kind and caring and carefully explained all my husband needed to do to recover. i would highly recommend him.

Having had over 21 orthopedic surgeries of which 9 were spine, I feel I am uniquely qualified when it comes to living with pain. Dr. Clapp has addressed my post surgical pain on multiple occasions since 2019. I wish that all Pain Management Physicians had his compassion, knowledge and caring bedside manner. He is legitimately the best pain management physician who has ever treated me. In addition to keeping me as comfortable as safely possible after surgery, the suggestions and recommendations he has given my surgeon and myself afterwards, helped me reduce my overall opioid use by over two thirds! Know that you are in good hands when he is one of your physicians.

Had a surgery and my pain was super well controlled after. Dr. Clapp called me the day before my surgery and asked me about how I did before with other surgeries. He saw me every day and was kind, listened and answered all my questions. When I needed him a few days after surgery, he got right back to me and took care of me! Thanks Dr. Clapp! What a great experience. Will definitely get surgery at PSL again (if I ever need it!).

I've never had a doctor call me before a surgery and talk to me about what to expect and how my pain will be treated! The plan was great and I am doing fantastic now! Thanks Dr. Sanchez & Dr. Clap!

I was referred to dr.clapp after my first doctor was sent to federal prison for many reasons. I was young and naive and in a lot of pain. Dr clapp determined I had scoliosis and sciatica which originated during my first pregnancy ( the first doctor never verified anything) awesome right!? so I thought. I was taking my medication as prescribed, no more no less as I knew the severity of dependance at this point. I go in one day for injections, the procedure went well... I go back to his office to get another appointment scheduled, he tells me that I am getting discharged and he can no longer care for me because I have yet to stop smoking cigarettes. granted at this time I've been smoking for over half of my life and he wanted me to quit in 60 days. I did cut down a lot as I understood the reasoning behind it but to throw your patient out of the clinic with no warning, no time to find a new doctor, in complete awe shocked! a doctor to deny further care to his patient because of nicotine?!… I'd understand if I was a meth/heroin/cocaine addict. but no, nicotine. I went through absolute misery and lost hope after what I went through with my first doctor then him. no compassion, no heart if you can just do that to someone. especially when you're part of the reason they're chemically dependant on medication you prescribe them and leave them to suffer.

He is rude and condescending. Doesn’t listen to you.

Dr. Johnathan Clapp pain managment specialist. He is the kindest and most genuine man I have ever met. He will fight for you against insurance and pharmacy's. He defends his patients and stands up for what's right while trying his best to restore your quality of life. You would be lucky to have him as your dr I know we certainly were.

Dr. Clapp managed my pain after my 3rd back surgery. He called me the night before and we discussed my bad experiences with my 1st 2. He came up with a plan after asking and LISTENING to what I said worked for me before and it worked! He gave me a combination of pain meds and told me he wanted me to be safe and comfortable. Best experience and pain control I've had after surgery! Not sure what last post is about, but he has an amazing bed side manner! Thanks Dr. Clapp!

I came to this doctor when mine retired. At first he was kind and helpful. But when the current pain regiment wasnt working all he would do is up my dosage. A friend mentioned another medication, which I asked about, he said we could try it, gave me a sample packet. It helped a little so he again just upped the dosage. I ended up on the HIGHEST you can be on. It's not the safest med you can be on as it is. And insurance wasnt too keen to approve that amount. When I'd have headaches (later found out it was due to the dose of that med) he would just refer me to a new doctor. He doesnt look into what is causing the pain. I was later discharged from care because I wasn't improving. Got into a yelling match that I wasn't doing anything he told me to do and not helping myself. I was given a list of doctors and rehab clinics and told something a doctor should NEVER say to a patient. I left his office in tears, sobbing. He has absolutely NO compassion for his patients. If he had actually done… his job and looked into what was causing a good portion of my pain, he would have actually found something besides the blanket diagnosis I was previously given. (I was 23). Horrible bed side manner.

In my professional life I have worked with a lot of medical professionals over the years while adopting evidence based medical standards. And recently, I have unfortunately had several back surgeries and so I now have a personal knowledge of doctors that I didn't necessarily want. I have been lucky and had some great doctors during my medical treatment. Dr. Klapp has been one of the best. He called me the night before surgery to let me know what would happen and to answer any of my questions. He has listened well to any of my concerns and his staff has also been on top of any issue. Just having his professionalism and his ability to relate to me on a basic human level has helped me deal with my pain so much. I cannot thank him enough.
