Dr. Jonathan Crowley Ellis, MD

Dr. Ellis has been my gastroenterologist since developing gastritis and severe reflux after the birth of my children. He and his team were by my side from diagnosing my condition to treating the problem. I am extremely incredibly grateful to have been under his care.

If I could give Dr. Ellis and his office NO stars I would. Buyer beware! Questionable/suspicious business practices and clearly ethical issues. I am researching how to properly file a complaint with the medical board. I have copied this other patients review as mine is the same! my procedure was in access of $60k and insurance covered $700. Seem questionable to you? Then you try and reach the office to resolve these suspicious billing costs, and you NEVER get a call back. That makes it more sleazy. Then they send your erroneous charges (never itemized or provided) despite copious requests, to collections ..........now damaging your credit! I made arrangements for a preprocedure appointment with Dr. Ellis for an endoscopy and colonoscopy (my third colonoscopy from Dr. Ellis). I presented my Medicare card and my supplemental insurance card (Anthem Blue Cross) and was verbally assured everything was in order and that my insurance would cover all the costs. On the morning of my… procedures, again my insurance cards were reviewed and I proceeded into the suite to have my procedures. NOW,I have received bills from Dr. Ellis's office stating that Anthem did not pay ANY of the supplemental charges (my deductible had already been met) and I was responsible for all the remaining charges. I phoned Anthem and they stated Dr. Ellis is not in their network.....and they did not pay any fees to him. WHY WOULD THE OFFICE STAFF NOT TELL ME DR.ELLIS WAS NOT IN THE ANTHEM NETWORK AT THAT TIME. Surely, I would have had an opportunity to find another doctor...........I am currently in dispute with all this misled billing. ASK about your insurance and whether Dr. Ellis accepts it in reality.....do NOT be misled..........what a terrible position to be in..........all of this could have been avoided if the insurance information had been truthfully explained at the preprocedure visit or at best...the morning of the procedures. BE CAREFUL.

Diagnose and treatment were quick! Happy with the results.
