Please Read Carefully: I understand how difficult it is to determine Lyme Disease as it is the great imitator. However, when a young adolescent shows up with dermatological problems that are unusual for age group including a rash that "no one knows why it appears" said by Dr. Held, this could have been treated sooner. A rash that cannot be explained should have been tested for numerous infections. Nothing appears for no reason. Not to mention we live in New England therefore tick bites should be in the question even though many people do not remember being bit by one. Dr. Held was the first doctor I had gone to see to kick off this long journey of figuring out what is wrong with me. I was put on medication I didn't need, just a band aid over the situation. I was (passive-aggressively) reprimanded for seeing another specialist in order for them both to compare notes to figure out the problem. It is very clear that my case was not of importance to him. Just because my situation did… not involve cancer doesn't mean it is still not a very serious matter to deal with. Like with most diseases it is crucial to treat early otherwise it has devastating effects to the person's body, life, finances/jobs, relationships, and etc. I have learned through this experience I had to become my own doctor and advocate. Also, to DO NOT ALLOW poor treatment and to be spoken to as if I were brainless and unintelligent. Reasons for fair review: He did an excellent job for my invasive procedure and medication selection for my problematic circumstances. He is intelligent in many areas. This I will give credit for. However, his personality traits that also reflect in his work are contentious, irritable, and does not like to be challenged in regards to questions for the patient's concerns. What struck me as bizarre is you have no time to speak since he allows 30 seconds worth. Lastly, the last words he said to me was about him being in a magazine; $35 co pay to be told that and passed off in 5 minutes.

Don't waste your time

My husband and I have been patients of Dr. Held for many years. He is a kind caring person who always treated us with respect. His staff is wonderful and always makes us feel welcome. Waiting time is short. His advice is helpful and his exams are complete. I have referred Dr. Held to other people and they were pleased with their experience . My last visit was difficult because it was the first visit since my husband passed.Though he was busy he took the time to talk to me about my husband and how I was doing. I tried to make an appointment twice this year and didn't because of his rude receptionist.Impatience and discourtesy are not the way to greet patients.Perhaps she could find a job where her ignorance is appreciated.

After ten years as a patient I missed an appointment due to a sick child and was billed $80.00 that the doctor refused to excuse. Ill never go there again nor will I recommend him to anyone.

Super condescending. I don't know whether or not he is a good dermatologist because he refused to treat me after I disagreed with his plan. Going to go somewhere else to be seen.

Excellent dermatologist. Always on time and prompt. Due to excessive number of moles I am on an annual checkup. Always does a biopsy before removal. Keeps my face pre cancer in check with cryo treatment. Means business but has a unique sense of humor.

from the moment of booking, this office seemed very personable. I like that you don't get turfed to any nurse practitioner or helper-just the doctor and he is great! He clearly is a teacher at heart and does a masterful job of explaining things. Another dermatologist down the road to the west failed me several times. This office is a must for any difficult skin disease,etc.
