Very impressive. Feel very fortunate to be seen and cared for by the care provider.

Dr. Horton is great. Super compassionate, personable, knowledgeable. I threw him my highly unusual case and he made every effort to address my symptoms. I have had many doctors guess at what they can’t explain leading to many different opinions, and it’s frustrating and confusing. I really appreciated how humble he was in thoroughly explaining what he could, and admitting what he couldn’t. Refreshing to have a doctor be honest, humble, and express genuine compassion.

I took my young doctor to see Dr. Horton years back, TWICE. Once when she was a preschooler and the other time she was in 2nd grade. She has developmental delays but we always knew something wasn’t quite right with her vision as she would complain of headaches, get blurry red eyes, and frustrated while not only reading but doing things she normally enjoyed like watching a movie or playing her iPad. Dr. Hortons words exactly, “her vision is perfect” and proceeded to write off her frustrations and struggles in relation to her “delays” We JUST got her eyes checked again with another optometrist in SF and it turns out she is far sighted and one eye needs a stronger prescription than the other. She has been straining her eyes for years and going through so much frustration with academics PARTLY because she cannot SEE. Our new optometrist told me she should have been wearing glasses 3 or 4 years ago. ?? Please do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. I trusted UCSF and always felt… frustrated after visisying with Dr. Horton. He will not listen to your parental concerns regarding your child and you will be rushed out of his office much quicker than you expect. Thank god we found someone who actually spent time running the proper test she needed.

Dr. Horton is excellent and I feel very thankful to have found him. After being misdiagnosed by another doctor a year prior, and the vision in one eye getting worse and worse, I saw Dr. Horton. He correctly diagnosed me with a brain tumor. I was promptly treated and, although I had already lost much of the sight in one eye, am now healthy. He was kind, thorough, professional, and above all, competent. Thank you Dr. Horton!

This doctor is very rude and condescending. I'm 31 but I came with my mother to the appt because my vision is so bad that I don't feel comfortable driving. Dr. Horton spoke directly to my mother and not me. My UCSF neurologist fervently referred me to Dr. Horton because I was recently diagnosed with intracranial hypertension and I have been experiencing a rapid decline in my vision, namely acuity and severe visual disturbances. Dr. Horton acted like he was a specialist of IIH when really, all he is a specialist of is papilledema...which my neurologist already knew I only had mildly. Dr. Horton went on to tell me why he thought I did not have it and the one thing that made him think I did. He incorrectly stated that my CSF pressure was only borderline. So after he was done telling me that he didn't think my vision problems were related to the IIH, I asked him what he thought it could be related to...he said he didn't know and there's no way to know and completely dismissed me. … This man is not concerned about his patients. He does not know everything he thinks he does. He also didn't take the time to review the rest of my chart before concluding that all the doctors were wrong. He is a complete waste of time, money and effort. He is in a position to help a lot of people and he just gets off on the power but doesn't actually care.
