Dr. Jonathan L Israel, MD

I'm having difficulty returning for a routine colonoscopy 7 years after my last done by Dr.Israel. I had a serious bleed after the procedure. Hospitalized for 6 days and also had a blood transfusion. Very poor follow up care.

Pros: I was impressed that he called me after hours to check on my symptoms. Bedside manner was better in hospital than in office. Staff was very helpful and generous with samples. Cons: A very serious doctor- no personality to speak of. I could look past his bedside manner except that I had to call weeks after my colonoscopy to find out my diagnosis. Also he denied a major symptom I was having was related to my condition even though it's widely known and published everywhere.

Short wait times, professional staff, all very good.

I arrived 10 minutes late for my appointment after fighting Hartford traffic and weaving my way through a crowded parking garage to the top floor. Upon entering the waiting room and approaching the reception window, I was asked to wait a moment. It took 5 minutes for someone to ask my name and announce that I was there. A few moments later I was told that my appointment needed to be rescheduled because I was late. REALLY! 10 minutes late! So I guess the only review I can give of Dr. Israel, who I'm sure has never kept a patient waiting 10 minutes of more, is that his time is far more important than yours. In a word - Arrogance!

Dr Isreal is very professional. I think he is extremely intelligent, one of the best in his field. I rated him a bit low for bedside manner although personally I don't care at all about bedside manner of a doctor. I want my doctor to be up to date in his field and accurate in his diagnosis. I feel Dr. Ireal is both.

We had to fight Dr Israel from sending my father home while in a coma. All other doctors involved said he would die if sent home.
