Dr. Jonathan J S Koblenzer, MD

I met with this physician for approximately a year. I think in the beginning he tried to build trust. But for the last 6 months or so, he would tease me to the point where it was extremely hurtful and not helpful. He would also attack me at times and use information he encouraged me to share against me. He was not reliable and not available at times when he said he would be. Most of all, I feel he lied to me and made promises early on that he did not keep. I strongly do not recommend him if you have any trust issues like I do. I feel so completely hurt by him, that i'm terrified to see another therapist b/c I do not want to be betrayed again. Also, I think there were several things that he did that were unethical. I'm a physician and I would not treat my patients with such disregard as he did to me.

I have been under Dr. Koblenzer's care for only 6 months now and have been able to get to core issues that I have been running from for over half a century. I find him to be skilled and accurate in his comments and a caring practitioner. I am very lucky to be under his supervision as I struggle to find my true self and leave old limiting beliefs and ways of being in the world behind. I would recommend this psychiatrist to anyone who is committed and definite about becoming well again.

DR. Koblenxer is a caring, supportive,attentive and brilliant psychiatrist.Being his patient, one can feel confident in knowing you will be working with a well qualified & thoughful physician. He is the ultimate professional.

I was a patient of Dr. Koblenzer's for one year after a serious depression. I did not have insurance at the time but I wanted to avoid another serious depression so I paid out-of-pocket for his help. He was of no help. After a full year, I was still very depressed and had not learned any coping skills. He did not take me seriously when I described side effects to the medications he prescribed and minimized the violent side effects I experienced when I tried to reduce my meds. He asked me the same questions over and over again, focusing mainly on ages 0-6, since he believed something had happened to me during that time to make me depressed as an adult. When I told him I wasn't going to continue treatment with him, he said I was a very sick woman who needed psychotherapy for several more years and that if I don't get help, I would continue to sabotage my life and not succeed. I ignored his assessment and started cognitive behavior therapy instead. It's a lot of work but it allows me to… take responsibility for my emotional health. I would not recommend Dr. Koblenzer to anyone who really wants to get better. After a year with him, I actually felt more fragile and powerless than before. I never got the impression that he really wanted me to get better, only that he wanted me to keep going to see him.
