Dr. Jonathan Koelle, MD

Jonathan Stuart Koelle MD totally totally lacks empathy for me as a psychiatric patient. We are there because we are suffering, not because want to be there. I am now forced to do a Televisit since Covid. He is constantly looking at his computer and makes zero connection with me as a patient and a person. For all I know he watching the Dodgers game. He rattles off questions from a list but never really listens to my answers and has cut me off when I was trying to articulate my feelings. PLEASE GO ELSEWHERE. I had to keep seeing him until I found another psychiatrist, which was not easy, as we all know. I just had my first visit with a different psychiatrist (not affiliated with a chain like PCSD now Mindpath). The experience was night and day. This new doctor did not go to his computer once and had the professionalism and kindness to say "enough about your medication, now tell me about YOU". There are good doctors out there. Please keep searching-Koelle is NOT it. You… deserve respect as someone who is struggling and just need someone to listen, sometimes.

I recently had a session with Jonathan Koelle for some medication. Although I was frustrated that he didn’t give me the meds I wanted, this is not why I don’t like this doctor. I found him extremely passive aggressive to the point of pinning him down for a straight answer. I also wonder if he is over prescribing anti depressants. The world isn’t an easy place right now, but I think I am very equipped to cope. If he tries to prescribe you antidepressants, I’d question if further analysis is needed before altering your brain chemistry; what’s wrong with just coping with a few bad days if your not super depressed all the time? I bet his knee jerk reaction is to prescribe antidepressants quickly. I feel like SHARP also toes the line on this protocol and funnels patients to this dude. He did his assessment like I was a lab rat and did not allow my to express myself. His reviews are not good and there is a reason. I’m sure he’ll go on sedating masses of people, but not me.

I have been seeing him for over a year now, which makes me sad to even admit. I needed a psychiatrist immediately due to side effects of a mental health issue; this is where I landed. My appointments have always seemed rushed. He does not listen to or seem to care about my concerns or even the side effects some of the medications he prescribed had given me. This last visit he really didn't care at all even though I voiced to him that I have been severely depressed. Honestly just really disappointed I stayed with I'm this long.

Man the company that run this place is trash. After 2-3 months waiting, they called me to schedule an telecommute appointment and they asked me to call them before 12. My appointment was at 2:00 pm. I did call and I was told that they gave my appointment to someone else. And this is not the first time. They charged me 60$ for canceling my appointment last time because they told me it was too late. What a joke! Stay away from these people. Just saying... I wish I could give them 0 star!

I have been seeing Dr. Koelle for about a year now. He is a nice enough man, and helped me find a good combination of medications to treat my anxiety and depression. I do, however, feel like he is often eager to rush me out of my appointments, which are often about only 5-7 mins long. I docked stars for this. I am also having an EXTREMELY frustrating time scheduling a new appointment with his office. My last appointment was cancelled due to him going out of town. I have been unable to answer my phone at work when his office has called me to reschedule. When I step out of my office to call them back, I am placed on hold for 15+ minutes before I give up (I can't just leave work that long :( ). I have even given them my number to call me back when they can, and have still not received a call. After 4 times of trying this, I'm going to look for a new doctor.

I have never complained about a Dr. before. I also have never been treated so poorly by a Dr. in my life. This man was intimidating, abrupt, and dismissive. Within 15 minutes of meeting him my intuition was telling me to leave. I stayed and continued to basically be bullied. I have a great team of Dr's around me and because I forgot to mention a prescribed drug, that all of my Dr's are aware of. I was basically accused of being a liar and a drug addict. Forgetting this medication was an oversight on my part because, I DO NOT take it on a regular basis! I went asking for help which is hard enough when it is in a mental capacity, if he had concerns about treating me for ethical reasons I could understand and respect his decision, but to be berated was completely unnecessary. His bedside manner is awful to say the least. This man is exactly why the public has the feelings they have about psychiatrists. I personally left in tears and would suggest that you run the other direction if you… come across this man.

Dr.Koelle has been my Dr. for many years and he has listened to a lot of mishigas and been very patient, even though sometime I have refused to take the medication he has prescribed he hung in there with me and has been a life-saver for me. He is an excellent Dr. I no longer can see him as frequently because my insurance has changed BUT I know he will always make room for me in an emergency. I have told friends about him.

Dr. Koella has been my psychiatrist since 2008 and he has had a tremendous amount of mishigas with me I have had bipolar disorder siince 1998 and have had doctors in Michigan, California, Washington DC and Maryland and none of them have been as good as Dr. Koelle. He has been very patient and caring . I cannot give him enough praise and he has been my salvation. NL

My experience with this doctor was very unpleasant and only one appointment. The terrible odor in the waiting area was the first red flag and the doctor treated the visit like a job interview.
