As an oncologist and hematologist, my goal is to help patients maintain a good quality of life during cancer treatments. The diagnosis of cancer is much more than a physical disease. It's a frightening and emotional experience, for both the patient and his or her family. While I'm trained in the latest advancements for diagnosis and treatment of cancer (oncology) and disorders of the blood (hematology), I strive to give my patients the compassion and support they need as we battle their illness. Open doctor/patient communication is very important. I encourage patients to ask questions about their evaluation, diagnosis and treatment. With patients and families, I work hard to ensure everyone understands the diagnosis and treatment plan, and I will always try to translate the language of medicine into plain English.
